Mosconi Cup -- Career Records of Everyone Who Has Ever Played on Either Team

... Using AtLarge's great data, I graphed each player's total (adjusted) games using method B versus their point contribution. Only players with more than 8 points on the x-axis have their names included for ease of viewing. ...
That's pretty neat, skip100, thanks. I would suggest, though, that you change the word "games" to "matches."

The Van Boening Era in the Mosconi Cup -- Team USA Player Records

Post #26, from about 5 years ago, gave a comparison of Shane Van Boening's Cup record with the records of everyone else who had played on the team with Shane through 2017. This post is an update, extending the comparison through 2021. He has now played in the Cup for 15 years (2007-2021), and 17 other players have been his teammates. Methods A and B are defined in post #1.

Seven of the 17 teammates Shane has had on Cup teams also played on the team in one or more years prior to Shane's first year. The following stats for those 7 players (Archer, Morris, Deuel, Strickland, Jones, Putnam, and Schmidt) exclude those years prior to 2007 (and, so, are different from what is shown in post #1 above). The stats for the 10 teammates of Shane who have never played without him are the same as in post #1 above.

• Shane Van Boening (15 yrs. -- 2007-2021) ..... 16-25 s, 17-23 d, 7-8 t, 40-56 total A (42%), 25.9-38.1 total B (40%)

• Johnny Archer (7 years -- 2007-2013) ..... 6-4 s, 12-10 d, 3-4 t, 21-18 total A (winning percentage of 54%), 12.6-9.8 total B (winning percentage of 56%)

• Corey Deuel (7 yrs. -- 2007, 2009-2010, 2014-2015, 2018, 2020) ..... 2-7 s, 7-11 d, 4-3 t, 13-21 total A (38%), 6.3-13.1 total B (32%)

• Skyler Woodward (7 yrs. -- 2015-2021) ..... 7-5 s, 9-14 d, 4-3 t, 20-22 total A (48%), 12.3-12.6 total B (49%)

• Rodney Morris (6 yrs. -- 2007-2008, 2010-2011, 2013, 2016) ..... 3-8 s, 5-14 d, 1-5 t, 9-27 total A (25%), 5.7-16.0 total B (26%)

• Dennis Hatch (5 yrs. -- 2009-2010, 2012-2013, 2017) ..... 4-5 s, 7-7 d, 2-3 t, 13-15 total A (46%), 7.9-9.1 total B (46%)

• Justin Bergman (4 yrs. -- 2014-2016, 2019) ..... 1-6 s, 5-5 d, 2-2 t, 8-13 total A (38%), 3.9-8.9 total B (30%)

• Mike Dechaine (4 yrs. -- 2011-2012, 2015-2016) ..... 1-6 s, 2-8 d, 2-2 t, 5-16 total A (24%), 2.4-10.4 total B (19%)

• Billy Thorpe (4 yrs. -- 2017-2020) ..... 3-3 s, 4-7 d, 2-2 t, 9-12 total A (43%), 5.4-6.9 total B (44%)

• Earl Strickland (3 yrs. -- 2007-2008, 2013) ..... 2-3 s, 4-4 d, 1-2 t, 7-9 total A (44%), 4.2-5.4 total B (44%)

• Tyler Styer (3 yrs. -- 2018-2019, 2021) ..... 2-3 s, 5-3 d, 2-1 t, 9-7 total A (56%), 4.9-4.7 total B (51%)

• Oscar Dominguez (2 yr. -- 2009, 2017) ..... 0-3 s, 3-3 d, 1-1 t, 4-7 total A (36%), 1.7-4.7 total B (27%)

• Jeremy Jones (2 yrs. -- 2008, 2021) ..... 0-3 s, 1-4 d, 1-1 t, 2-8 total A (20%), 0.7-5.2 total B (12%)

• Chris Reinhold (2 yrs. -- 2020-2021) ..... 0-2 s, 2-2 d, 2-0 t, 4-4 total A (50%), 1.4-3.0 total B (32%)

• Justin Hall (1 yr. -- 2014) ..... 1-0 s, 2-1 d, 0-1 t, 3-2 total A (60%), 2.0-0.7 total B (74%)

• Shawn Putnam (1 yr. -- 2011) ..... 0-1 s, 2-1 d, 0-1 t, 2-3 total A (40%), 1.0-1.7 total B (37%)

• John Schmidt (1 yr. -- 2014) ..... 1-0 s, 0-3 d, 0-1 t, 1-4 total A (20%), 1.0-1.7 total B (37%)

• Brandon Shuff (1 yr. -- 2012) ..... 0-3 s, 1-2 d, 1-0 t, 2-5 total A (29%), 0.7-4.0 total B (15%)

____________________________________________________________________________________________

• Total all 18 players (15 years -- 2007-2021) ..... 49-87 s, 88-122 d, 35-40 t, 172-249 total A (41%), 100-156 total B (39%)

Total excluding Shane Van Boening ..... 33-62 s, 71-99 d , 28-32 t, 132-193 total A (41%), 74.1-117.9 total B (38.6%)

Shane Van Boening ..... 16-25 s, 17-23 d, 7-8 t, 40-56 total A (42%), 25.9-38.1 total B (40.5%)
____________________________________________________________________________________________

The above stats for players other than Shane include the doubles and teams matches they played with him. If we exclude those and compare the matches in which Shane played vs. those in which he did not play, we have:

Shane's record (Method A)
singles -- 16-25 (39%)
doubles -- 17-23 (42.5%)

Team USA's match record (Method A) excluding Shane's matches:
singles -- 33-62 (35%)
doubles -- 27-38 (41.5%)

So Shane has done a little better than his teammates in singles (39% vs. 35%) and about the same in doubles (42.5% vs. 41.5%). And, on the contribution method (Method B), as shown above, Shane's winning percentage is 40.5% vs. his teammates' 38.6%.

UPDATE

The Van Boening Era in the Mosconi Cup -- Team USA Player Records

This is an update to post #66, comparing Shane Van Boening's Cup record with the records of everyone else who has played on the team with Shane through 2022. He has now played in the Cup for 16 years (2007-2022), and 17 other players have been his teammates. Methods A and B are defined in post #1.

____________________________________________________________________________________________

The above stats for players other than Shane include the doubles and teams matches they played with him. If we exclude those and compare the matches in which Shane played vs. those in which he did not play, we have:

Shane's record (Method A)
singles -- 16-27 (37%)
doubles -- 21-23 (48%)

Team USA's match record (Method A) excluding Shane's matches:
singles -- 35-68 (34%)
doubles -- 27-41 (40%)

So Shane has done a little better than his teammates in singles (37% vs. 34%) and better in doubles (48% vs. 40%). And, on the contribution method (Method B), as shown above, Shane's winning percentage is 41% vs. his teammates' 38%.

Interesting....

No woman playing for Team USA, has ever lost A GAME. Not a match, A GAME.
You must have misread something. While both Villarreal and Lee were undefeated in their only appearance in the Cup (1994), that was in matches not games. They each appeared in 5 winning matches (one of them as doubles partners) and no losing matches.

In terms of games won and lost:
Villarreal (in 3 singles and 2 doubles matches) won 37 games and lost 18.
Lee (in 2 singles and 3 doubles matches) won 42 games and lost 21.

It will be hard for anyone to match/surpass Souquet’s 56 total MC match wins. Maybe Filler in another 15 years from now.

Re: Perfect Records

Update of Post #47 to include results through the 2023 Cup:

Lee and Villarreal, both with 5-0 records, are the only players with perfect career records in the Mosconi Cup. (Of course, they only played one year).

An undefeated record in a single event has been achieved 17 other times:
Strickland in 1997 (5-0), 2001 (3-0), and 2005 (4-0)
Jones in 2001 (3-0)
Williams in 2001 (3-0)
Deuel in 2001 (3-0)
Morris in 2004 (5-0) and 2005 (4-0)
Archer in 2012 (6-0)
Souquet in 2008 (6-0) and 2013 (4-0)
Feijen in 2013 (5-0) and 2016 (4-0)
Ouschan in 2016 (5-0) and 2023 (4-0)
Filler in 2017 (5-0)
Alcaide in 2023 (4-0)

So, in total, a player has gone without a loss in a year's event just 19 times out of a total of 334 player appearances (5.7%).

This is an update to last year's post #69, comparing Shane Van Boening's Cup record with the records of everyone else who has played on the team with Shane through 2023. He has now played in the Cup for 17 years (2007-2023), and 19 other players have been his teammates. Methods A and B are defined in post #1.

____________________________________________________________________________________________

The above stats for players other than Shane include the doubles and teams matches they played with him. If we exclude those and compare the matches in which Shane played vs. those in which he did not play, we have:

Shane's record (Method A)
singles -- 17-27 (39%)
doubles -- 22-24 (48%)

Team USA's match record (Method A) excluding Shane's matches:
singles -- 35-74 (32%)
doubles -- 28-44 (39%)

So Shane has done a bit better than his teammates in both singles (39% vs. 32%) and doubles (48% vs. 39%). And, on the contribution method (Method B), as shown above, Shane's winning percentage is 42% vs. his teammates' 37%.

From Post #77, only 5 of the 19 players who have been on the team with Van Boening have a higher winning percentage (contribution method) than SVB's 42%:

74% Hall (but only 1 year)
56% Archer
48% Woodward
46% Hatch
44% Thorpe

He has now played in the Cup for 18 years (2007-2024), and 19 other players have been his teammates. Methods A and B are defined in post #1 of this thread.

Seven of the 19 teammates Shane has had on Cup teams also played on the team in one or more years prior to Shane's first year. The following stats for those 7 players (Archer, Morris, Deuel, Strickland, Jones, Putnam, and Schmidt) exclude those years prior to 2007 (and, so, are different from what is shown in post #1 above). The stats for Shane and for the 12 teammates of Shane who have never played without him are the same as in post #1 above.

• Shane Van Boening (18 yrs. -- 2007-2024) ..... 17-28 s, 22-26 d, 10-10 t, 49-64 total A (43%), 30.0-43.0 total B (41%)

The above stats for players other than Shane include the doubles and teams matches they played with him. If we exclude those and compare the matches in which Shane played vs. those in which he did not play, we have:

Shane's record (Method A)
singles -- 17-28 (38%)
doubles -- 22-26 (46%)

Team USA's match record (Method A) excluding Shane's matches:
singles -- 38-78 (33%)
doubles -- 29-47 (38%)

So Shane has done a bit better than his teammates in both singles (38% vs. 33%) and doubles (46% vs. 38%). And, on the contribution method (Method B), as shown above, Shane's winning percentage is 41% vs. his teammates' 37%.

Only 6 of the 19 players who have been on the team with Van Boening have a higher winning percentage (contribution method) during those years than SVB's 41%:
74% Hall (but only 1 year)
56% Archer
45% Woodward
46% Hatch
43% Styer
42% Thorpe
