Edit -- Because of a Covid-related situation, Jeremy Jones replaced Strickland on Team USA after they all reached England.

Again this year, I am posting the career Mosconi-Cup records of this year's players. The combined records for each player were compiled from individual-year match results on Wikipedia and my own records. The career records of everyone who has ever played on either team can be found here: https://forums.azbilliards.com/thre...er-played-on-either-team.464772/#post-6028857

Team USA will enter the event with a combined 37 years of Cup experience, with 76% (28 years) of that in Van Boening and Strickland. Team Europe has 17 years of Cup experience. Neither team has a rookie this year.

Method 1. Under this method, I counted a full win or loss for each player in each match (i.e., not splitting the point into fifths for teams matches or halves for doubles matches). So these numbers essentially answer the question: "In how many winning and losing matches has each player been involved?" [Note that a record like 15-19 means 15 wins and 19 losses, not 15 wins out of 19 matches.]

Team USA
• Earl Strickland (14 yrs. -- 1996-2008, 2013) ..... 14-12 singles, 24-12 doubles, 2-0 trebles, 3-2 teams, 43-26 total (winning percentage of 62%)
• Shane Van Boening (14 yrs. -- 2007-2020) ..... 16-21 singles, 16-21 doubles, 6-8 teams, 38-50 total (43%)
• Skyler Woodward (6 yrs. -- 2015-2020) ..... 5-5 singles, 8-11 doubles, 3-3 teams, 16-19 total (46%)
• Tyler Styer (2 yrs. -- 2018-2019) ..... 1-3 singles, 4-1 doubles, 1-1 teams, 6-5 total (55%)
• Chris Reinhold (1 yr. -- 2020) ..... 0-1 singles, 1-1 doubles, 1-0 teams, 2-2 total, (50%)
• Team USA Total (37 yrs.) ..... 36-42 singles, 53-46 doubles, 2-0 trebles, 14-14 teams, 105-102 total (51%)
Team Europe
• Jayson Shaw (5 yrs. -- 2016-2020) ..... 8-5 singles, 8-4 doubles, 3-2 teams, 19-11 total (63%)
• Albin Ouschan (4 yrs. -- 2015-2016, 2018, 2020) ..... 4-2 singles, 10-3 doubles, 2-2 teams, 16-7 total (70%)
• Joshua Filler (3 yrs. -- 2017, 2019-2020) ..... 6-1 singles, 5-2 doubles, 1-2 teams, 12-5 total (71%)
• Eklent Kaçi (3 yrs. -- 2018-2020) ..... 4-1 singles, 2-5 doubles, 1-2 teams, 7-8 total (47%)
• David Alcaide (2 yrs. -- 2006, 2017) ..... 2-1 singles, 3-2 doubles, 1-1 trebles, 1-2 teams, 7-6 total (54%)
• Team Europe Total (17 yrs.) ..... 24-10 singles, 28-16 doubles, 1-1 trebles, 8-10 teams, 61-37 total (62%)

Method 2. Another way of looking at the records is to count a full point for each player in a singles win or loss, half a point for each player in a doubles win or loss, one-third of a point for each player in a trebles win or loss, and one-fifth (one-sixth in 2006) of a point for each player in a team win or loss. So the following numbers essentially answer the question: "What numerical contribution has each player made to the overall Mosconi Cup match scores?"
Team USA
• Earl Strickland (14 yrs.) ..... 14-12 singles, 12-6 doubles, 0.7-0 trebles, 0.5-0.4 teams, 27.2-18.4 total (winning percentage of 60%)
• Shane Van Boening (14 yrs.) ..... 16-21 singles, 8-10.5 doubles, 1.2-1.6 teams, 25.2-33.1 total (43%)
• Skyler Woodward (6 yrs.) ..... 5-5 singles, 4-5.5 doubles, 0.6-0.6 teams, 9.6-11.1 total (46%)
• Tyler Styer (2 yrs. -- 2018-2019) ..... 1-3 singles, 2-0.5 doubles, 0.2-0.2 teams, 3.2-3.7 total (46%)
• Chris Reinhold (1 yr. -- 2020) ..... 0-1 singles, 0.5-0.5 doubles, 0.2-0 teams, 0.7-1.5 total, (32%)
• Team USA Total (37 yrs.) ..... 36-42 singles, 26.5-23 doubles, 0.7-0 trebles, 2.7-2.8 teams, 65.9-67.8 total (49%)
Team Europe
• Jayson Shaw (5 yrs.) ..... 8-5 singles, 4-2 doubles, 0.6-0.4 teams, 12.6-7.4 total (63%)
• Albin Ouschan (4 yrs.) ..... 4-2 singles, 5-1.5 doubles, 0.4-0.4 teams, 9.4-3.9 total (71%)
• Joshua Filler (3 yrs.) ..... 6-1 singles, 2.5-1 doubles, 0.2-0.4 teams, 8.7-2.4 total (78%)
• Eklent Kaçi (2 yrs.) ..... 4-1 singles, 1-2.5 doubles, 0.2-0.4 teams, 5.2-3.9 total (57%)
• David Alcaide (2 yrs.) ..... 2-1 singles, 1.5-1 doubles, 0.3-0.3 trebles, 0.2-0.3 teams, 4.0-2.7 total (60%)
• Team Europe Total (17 yrs.) ..... 24-10 singles, 14-8 doubles, 0.3-0.3 trebles, 1.6-1.9 teams, 39.9-20.2 total (66%)

thanks for the stats, AL-
16-21 is pretty weak for a player of shane's caliber- how would you (or anybody else that wants to chime in) attribute this?

Who knows. It has been discussed on AzB many times with many "reasons" suggested. His aggregate performance in the years when the Cup has been in the USA is considerably better than in the years when it has been in Europe, but even in the USA it has not been what we might expect.

I’d say that 92% chance of a win for team Europe is pretty accurate, and that doesn’t even calculate in any additional advantage by playing on their home turf.

what were trebles? they played matches 3 vs 3?
Yes, trebles or triples = 3 vs. 3.

2006 was notable for a number of reasons:
• The only year trebles matches were held;
• The first year for a Teams match;
• The only year with 2 Teams matches;
• The last year with more than 5 players on a team;
• The last year the race was to more than 11 match wins;
• The only year that ended in a tie;
• The first year that Johan Ruijsink captained Team Europe;
• The only year that Mike Davis and Imran Majid have been on Cup teams; and
• The only year that a player has participated in 7 winning matches (Deuel, MVP).
