Mr. Wilson,

I apologise for communicating this in such a public forum. However, since I do not have a way of contacting you in a less public way and since I believe the suggestion that I am offering is positive and meant to be supportive of your efforts I hope you will forgive me for that.

I read, with interest, the announcement that the Mosconi Cup team would be attending the BCA Summit 2014.

Not to diminish any of the other many good team building things that you are doing, both from the perspective of your putting together your team and also creating positive exposure to the Mosconi event and to our sport, I was particularly pleased to see that you would have “I Should Have Been Picked For The Mosconi Cup” T-Shirts available as prizes to anyone who could win a challenge match at the event.

I highlight the T-Shirts as I think that they show good humour as a reaction to all of us second guessers that feel so free to offer opinions on the make-up of the team (and, I expect, will continue to do so).

You may have already thought of this, however, if not, I would offer the suggestion that, in addition to the challenge matches, these should be offered for sale, say at $19.99 plus S&H, as a way to add to the team revenues. I for one would love to buy one for myself. In addition these would make a nice gift for (put the name of your favorite player who was not picked here). I would be tempted to buy a few more to do that.

I thank you in advance for your consideration of this suggestion and I look forward to your response.

Yours truly,
Jerry

P.S. By way of full disclosure I will not be able to attend the BCA Summit and even if I were to attend I would have no realistic chance of winning a shirt so my suggestion is influenced by my personal desire for a shirt. I hope this disclosure does not take away from the merits of the suggestion.

I will buy 3 of them the second they become avaliable. Great idea, maybe MD will buy himself a few also ;)

I'll be at the BCA show as my son is playing in the Jr Nationals held there at the same time and will be there for the shirt.

While raising money is good for this, it also will take away from the fact that you were there with them and got the shirt for attending the event.

Maybe if they made it in two colors, one unique to the event and one for purchase.

Another thing I wish is that ALL of the team were there, from the info looks like only 3 of the players will be there.

PS, I think your post is just fine to do in public, it's not like you are calling Mark out for cheating on his taxes or taking bribes from the EU to populate the US team with crappy players.

last year, there were 2 AZBers who offered to do the tshirts at cost. i think it's a great idea to use the profits for funding Team USA!

This is a great idea, I have always thought so. People are already coming up with some great ideas but before giving suggestions everyone should think on the possible issues that can come of some suggestions and I have experience with this. Take into consideration How many shirts do you buy? are you going to get left holding a bunch? what sizes do you order? If you go with 2 colors again, how many of each and what sizes? I guess the point is if Mark W buys 100 shirts and only 30 sell and he is left holding them and not much if any money will have been generated. However I still think all are good ideas.

I would think that if Mark got stuck with a bunch of shirts, he could unload them to
some distributor who could advertise something like buy a cue get a free Mosconi
Cup t-shirt as part of the deal. It would work out good for the distributor and Mark that way.
Just a thought.

PS. Mark is also in the perfect position to get all the Left over shirts sighed by all the team members
and then sell them after the Cup is over, for a higher price. For a head start on raising monies for next year.
If they happen to win the price goes up, even more ! :D

very good ideas!
also, they could be signed & sold at the Open, and i'm pretty sure they'd sell for more than $20.
they could keep it simple with 1 color & 2 sizes. and we're talking about approx $5 cost.

Mark, you know those Brits buy anything signed, and then sell on Ebay.
