MOSCONI CUP tix

Went on the Matchroom website for the pre-sale tickets to the MOSCONI CUP. The email link takes you to Ticketmaster. Tried to book 2 VIP Season pass tix. Except Ticketmaster doesn't show that option. At one point the web site returned a notice that they were sold out. However if you go into each individual day tickets are available. AT TWICE THE PRICE.
And I thought Matchroom had their act together.
This happened after 2 delays in the sale date. First, it was February 9th. Then the 21rst.
Matchroom owes me an explanation at the very least.

Go on their Facebook and tell them they owe you an explanation

Just did a copy/paste from a Matchroom poster.

I'm not one to really complain too much but this one really PISSED ME OFF
😡
😡

So I purchased my Mosconi Cup tickets close up front really good seats well today I received an email stating that matchroom production had to move me a couple rows back to lesser value seats and hoping that I would enjoy the new seats because of they need to accommodate ADA fans
😲
😲
🤔
😡
😡
NOPE THEY DID NOT OFFER TO REFUND ME THE DIFFERENCE IN PRICE..... NOW the kicker is that I paid extra money to protect and guarantee me my seats.
MATCHROOM has definitely LOST MY TRUST

Some more tickets were just released for the event. Here's the link:

The tickets are $69+fees per day. Mostly they are the back row.

Ticketmaster also lists some resale tickets. It seems people are asking $300 per day for the sixth row. (I think that is about ideal because you can watch the overhead monitors, if the setup is like the previous ones).

This year's event is close to sold out. My estimate of the total number of seats is 2340. If you assume an average net to Matchroom of $70/seat/day, the net gate would be $650,000 more or less. That estimate does not include VIP prices. There are lots of expenses in seating that many people. I think the total crew for the last MC I went to in London was about 100. (Maybe I slipped a decimal.)

Well, since I was on the innerwebz I thought I would look at the prices at the host hotel, Bally's.

Three nights, arriving Wed. and leaving Sat., cheapest refundable room... Sadly, the cheapest room is smoking.

$1892 -- room rate, cheapest refundable
$120 -- resort fee -- swimming pool is closed, though
$252 -- taxes
-------
$2264

or $755 per night. Maybe there is some inflation going on. I remember when Las Vegas was actually a good value.

An apartment a mile and a half away with two bedrooms is available for $180/night. Rated 9+ on booking.com. Probably could rent a full-time limo and end up ahead.

Something must be happening in Las Vegas that week.

Really makes you appreciate what a good thing those old Sands tournaments were back in the day in Reno.
My first one was in June 85

They were the nuts, and the action before and after in Sacramento for a week either side of the Reno tourney was always great too!

That was possibly the best pool era on the West Coast, I wasn’t around in the )9’s or 79’s for pool. I know that was a good period as well.

Great memories

Lots of stories I remember from those days. Wow.

Vegas is wrecked.

I moved there in 91 and it was amazing until about 95/96 by then the mob was gone and Corp America had started the cancer that destroyed Vegas. I caught the last few years.

I still know one guy who’s 84 who saw it all, we talk all the time. Vegas was the mortal nuts to live in if you liked action, everything always open and easy money. If you had bad habits it would eat you alive and spit you out. Takes a special type of person to live there. For those who could it was great.

The weather is horrible. But I can fade that.

Everyone made so much easy $ and fast cash it was beyond amazing. I’m not one to glorify the past. But man Vegas was great. It’s pure shit now. I go and just get sad. It’s all done. Game over

Resort fees wtf is that all about, pay for parking, $8 coffee, the list goes on. Even when you’re rich it’s still a scam. Getting robbed never feels good-even if you can afford it.

It’s a big clip joint now. All of it.

I still own apt buildings there and other biz interests. I never go.

Having said that I’ll be at Mcup this year. As painful as vegas is to me. I want to go see some friends, players and go to the pool room for a few days. Got some biz to iron out as well.

Even in 08, rooms were plentiful at $100 a night. But that was in August! I'll never be able to go back now. Oh well, at least I got to experience it once.

I was in Vegas a few weeks ago and it reminded of what Key West has become now that they drop off 7,000 people a day on the island from the cruise ships. It’s just a corporate fuck fest- all of the individuality that made Key West awesome is getting sucked dry. The fishing is still pretty good thankfully.

I have been to the MC several times and, basically, if you are not in the front you are watching on the monitors because the times I went the seats didn't have much elevation.

lol, the USAF used to send me to Vegas three/four times a year a to give a class to the Thunderbirds, our aerial demonstration team.

They would put us up at Caesars with a view of the Strip for $89 a night. A car rental was $29 a day. One year I flew out just to play in a weekend tournament at The Vegas Club. SWA was $69 each way.

Nowadays, traveling and especially Vegas is brutal.

lol, late 80s, early 90s.

Vegas was still doable into the early 2000's. Parking at all the casinos was still free, good food was affordable, free entertainment in many of the gambling areas, and if you were playing the free drinks came at a steady pace.

Begas is pricing themselves out of action

It’s retarded expensive.

I’m staying at a friends place. Zero shot I’d pay for a room there
