Barry Hearn had it right all along. With these table conditions and alternate break, the matches don’t seem quite so short any more. I think the fallacy of the short races to five has been debunked here. There are very few break and runs and a lot of play after the break; safeties and push outs being vitally important.

One difference I have seen this year is improved safety play by Team USA.

Keeping the races to 5 is ideal for the Mosconi Cup format. It keeps the underdog alive, the comebacks alive, and allows for commercial breaks between every game or two and still get in one match roughly every hour, or slightly less. With 5 matches per day (potentially 6 or 7 on the final day) that’s as long a time frame as the viewing audience (in person and on livestream) could possibly handle.

I would be curious, in Mosconi Cup history, how many matches have been won after trailing 4–0? I can’t recall any in recent years although I’m sure it has happened.

I am with you on the race to 5. It adds a ton of pressure to every shot

The genius of getting Earl to play yesterday.
Now we bring the heat.

Hoping Tyler plays a good set. That one will be huge.

Oscar is cool under pressure, I don't worry about him playing well.

NFL players have no problem tackling a 45 year old quarterback. Earl is in the arena, he expected to duke it out like everyone else there.
Poor comparison.
Shaw is a big favorite to win that particular individual competition. To act like he just knocked out Tyson looked foolish as heck.
