I don't want this to sound like a rant because it is not meant to. It seems to me that the Mosconi Cup was originally meant to be a competition between the USA and England in general. It is a paid exhibition series of sorts. I realize that participants are citizens of their prospective teams countries. Honestly, If they live or work here in the USA they should be playing on the USA team. I mean I could understand more if it did NOT seem like people were living here and making money in the US tournaments only to play against the USA (were they got most of their practice) in Mosconi Cup but that is exactly how it feels.

England has only 52mil+ people and not many plays 9ball , USA has 300mil+ and with many pool players playing everyday. Not too even.

I think your over thinking the MC significance. Its a great exhibition for the top pool players in the world under a banner aimed to get buy in from the fans. The winning players only get $20K each after all is said and done.

Maybe you meant to say Europe rather than England; it has always included Europeans from countries other than England.
The population of a country should not matter honestly. When you talk about population in that light it refers to the number of people living in a place to choose from. That is not taking into account that has no reference to the number of people that actually play pool or cue sports of any nature for that matter. From my understanding snooker is huge over there and many of the pubs have snooker or pool tables in them. It is not like cue sports are struggling on the European side of the Atlantic like they seem to be here in the USA.
Well I might be missing something here but in reality it seems to me that Mosconi Cup is not really a tournament as much as an Exhibition. Granted the players have the opportunity to make $20K and you may not think that is significant. Personally that is the better part of a year salary to an awful lot of people in the USA. The winning players not only are getting paid $5k per day but are being internationally televised. Either way five grand a day I think is more than most people make.
The Mosconi Cup was designed and started to promote pool awareness not gambling or money in general.
