Most Innovative Cuemaker (new generation)

Out of the "newer" generation of cuemakers I would like to cast my vote as the most innovative cuemaker with John Showman. Every cue I see by him just blows my mind. His cues offer a classic appeal with his the Showman touch! He takes design themes by the masters and improves upon them, thus creating something fresh and original. I'm on his list and proud to wait 5 years for one of his cues.

Who gets your vote??

Not sure what you mean by "New Generation".... So many cuemakers are producing mind-numbing, complex designs. I love the new stuff by Black Boar and Hercek. But I have to say that the "Twisted Sisters" by Samsara are the definition of innovative.

I guess the term "newer generation" is quite subjective. I guess just define it for yourself and share your thoughts. Easy enough, right? No room for arguements with that definition.
 
Yeah, Lucky is The Man right now.... I noticed while poking around his site last week that he has two new Barrys for sale... They are quite nice!!
 
Showman is a genious. Beautiful, classic looking designs. And I personally favor Jim White to any cuemaker. He's tops in the game and he's a newbie. But in terms of innovation, I would have to say that guys like Jerry McWorter, Richard Chudy, and the guys at Samsara are definitely innovative.
 
I like Gabriel Leigh, which is probably not a standard choice since he isn't as well known as many other cuemakers. His cues, however, have a timeless look -- a nice antique feel to them -- like you're shooting with your grandfather's cue. I love their looks. And Gabe is a class act.

You guys are correct... McWorter is certainly blazing new trails in cue design. Awesome stuff!

Thought this was funny: this weekend I was at the pool hall practicing when a guy looked at my cue very closely... (a Black Boar from the original design catalogue) and after asking who made it (duh?) said "Oh, I am more of an "Old School'' guy myself..." (He meant that my cue was not old school.)

I laughed because we (guys here on the forum) call my BB "old school" all the time! I am taking my Blue Book to the tournament this weekend just to educate the other guys on what is out there. Every good cue is not a Schon, Meucci or McDermott for God's sake!!!
 
Kenny murrell is the man on cue design from a newer cue maker.Guy does awsome work and keeps getting better and better.His design's are awsome and original and his ring work is stunning.He also makes some realy neat joint protecters and good lizard wraps.All in all if a cue plays like crap what good is it and every kenny murrell cue I have played with has played and looked stunning. JMO

When I think of the "top innovative and newer generation cuemakers", if you will, I would be inclined to think of McWorter, Manzino, and Chudy. These three guys have really blazing some trails with cue designs these past 2-3 years. Thomas Wayne, too, but he's been on the cutting edge design-wise for longer than most everyone else, so it's hard for me to consider him "newer generation".

P.S. and this is coming from somebody that really likes the classic looking and made stuff, to, like J.S.

With the use of CNC becomming more present in cue making, the designs are only limited by your imagination. If you can think it up the computer can produce it. You can come up with very elaberate cues.
Myself, I prefer the old school pantagraph, done by hand custom cues.
 
The most innovative cue MAKER of our time is probably DPK. Many of the wonderfull builders in the previous posts have executed interesting/intriguing designs to perfection, but, DPK made Q's that played/hit in a different manner. He taught the SW SHOP well and they ,IMHO, IMPROVED on it. Many try to duplicate the HIT ,but, they can't get there on a consistant basis.

Matt, I agree with your view of Showman cues.Here are some pictures of Showman cues I have owned.
