.77 mm?
.77 mm?
The tips fit right out the box.12.9mm is thin and cool but 13mm is large and old
I'm using a Becue Prime II 12.0 shaft and I don't have any reason to try another shaft, it has a super long taper, I haven't measured it but it is visibly noticeable and different than any other shaft I've seen, I have used a 12.4, 11.8 as well and to me the difference is so small in size it's not worth talking about, 1/2 of 1 mm, I didn't really see a big difference in performance due to shaft size, I think it has more to do with the taper than the outside diameter of the shaft, what I love about Becue is they aren't trying to improve on shafts they built in the past but are building shafts that have different types of hit, the Engage is a firm CF hit, the Prime II is the most wood like hit of any CF shaft I've tried and the original Prime shaft has the most flex of any CF shaft on the market, not everyone will like the same type of hit, I have also owned a Defy CF shaft and played with wood shafts for years, the Prime II 12.0 shaft is my favorite shaft of all time.
I own 2 of them, it is a great shaft, Becue does things a little different than any cue company I know, instead of trying to build the "one" shaft everyone is going to love, they build shafts for different types of hit, I wouldn't get to hung up on shaft size with CF, 11.8 to 12.3 is 1/2 of 1mm, don't buy into the hype that a.1 difference a computer can measure is something you will be able to notice, I guarantee you won't, what you will be able to notice is if the shaft is comfortable in YOUR hand, the Engage hits like a CF shaft, little to no feedback like a wooden shaft, some people don't like CF shafts because of this, the transfer of energy from your stroke is massive, the shaft doesn't create power, it just transfers the power from YOUR stroke more efficiently, the original Prime shaft hits very much like a Muecci wooden shaft to me, a little too whippy, if you don't have a power stroke and play a more finesse game this might be the perfect shaft for you, the Prime II shaft is right in the middle, power transfer of a CF shaft with the feedback close to a wooden shaft, to me it's the perfect balance, it's the shaft I'm using now, I'm using Becue's CF butt as well and it does make a difference, their cues are designed to transfer the energy from your stroke more efficiently, from the tip to the rubber bumper, in my opinion your cue is a tool made to help you win games, having the most visually appealing cue is nice, holding the 1st place Trophy at the end of a Tournament is nicer.......Hi, have you tried the Engage? That is the one that I have really been wanting to try, since seeing this video.
He states that the Engage 12.3mm comes with an 18" extended Pro taper. So, that sounds awesome to me.

The Prime II shaft taper is longer than 18", way longer, Becue's shafts do not have a seam in them like most CF shafts do, they are spun as one solid shaft, I loved the Engage shaft, I love the Prime II shaft even more, to me it's has the best balance of solid CF hit and feedback like a wood shaft, I haven't measured it and I use 30" shafts, there isn't much taper at all for 16" to 18", didn't know if I would like it when I got it, after shooting with it for a half hour I knew it was the shaft for me, I went back to the Engage just to make sure it wasn't new shaft syndrome, I've been using it now for over a year, the coolest thing is I bought another one for a spare put the same tip on it and you can't tell one shaft from the other, they play so consistent, I swore I would never by a CF shaft but now I use a complete CF cue, it's good to keep an open mind.....Hi, thanks for the great info. Have you ever tried the Whyte Carbon? Do either of the current Becue shafts hit anything like the Whyte Carbon? I really loved that one, when I was able to borrow one for a night at a tournament, and it was the 12.25mm version. By the way, I hate the way a classic, old school, Meucci shaft hits. On the other hand, I really love the way a classic D Series Mcdermott cue hits. I would love a CF shaft with the hit of a D Series Mcdermott, but with the power transfer that a high quality CF shaft is able to offer. Sounds to me like that might be the Prime M II. I really liked the sound of the 18" inch taper on the Engage 12.3mm shaft though, which the Prime M II does not have. Thanks.
I haven't tried a Whyte Carbon, MOST CF shafts are a tube with a seam that is foam filled, Becue shafts are spun and have no seam, you can get them up to 31" in length, I know they cost more but a couple of hundred bucks spread out over 10 years isn't enough to talk about, the cue I owned before the Becue was a Mcdermott, really nice cue, I just started playing pool again after a 10 year absence, and I mean I didn't even pick up a cue once in that time, Hawaiian Eye here on AZ Billiards introduced me to Becue, I had never heard of them, a no nonsense guy like him who has been playing as long as he has made it worth a try, I'm glad I did, just like every sport, equipment will get better with new technology if done right, check out their website and the technology section, they build great playing cues......Hi, thanks for the great info. I'm using a 30" shaft, I'll send a pic tomorrow after workOkay, well the guy in that YouTube video said that the Prime M II has a regular pro taper, and that the Engage 12.3 has an extended 18 inch pro taper. From the video, the taper on the Prime M II looked very short to me. I undersrand how it would be longer on a 31 inch shaft though.
