Most tedious runout ever

Here is the position that Karen Corr had last year in a match against Allison Fisher. Karen took 6 and a half minutes to run these balls!!!! I love pool more than most, I watched 13 hours of pool that day; but I had to leave with the match tied 4-4 it was so slow (end of the day match, no shot clock). When the best players in the world play this slow, its just ridiculous. Set it up for yourself, imagine its the finals of your local tournament, and see if it takes you longer than 30 seconds.

These kind of "feats" are the reason the shot clock was invented. It would be extremely boring even with trained dogs making flips in the background and Eddie Murphy shouting one-liners through a mic. I imagine the commentator having a hard time making that situation "interesting" or "crucial" or explaing how difficult this game is... blechhhh...

Unreal. WTF could possibly be going through her head? (mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm)

6 1/2 minutes? How on earth? Where did you get that measure? That's about a minute and a rest room break per shot...!

Because the match had been so slow (end of the day, no shot clock), a friend and I were timing each game and shot. We were both working as timekeepers for the event, so our stopwatches were accurate. This is no exagerration. There was no bathroom break either (though certainly I would have had time for one and still seen the 9 Ball made). There is no excuse for slow play (it did not take a rocket scientist to run these balls).

Highlight everything from start to end, right click and then select copy. When you see the wei table, you will see two colored blocks. A red one says copy and a green one says paste. Hit paste, and hit OK in the block that pops up.

yup thats wut i did first time it it wouldn't let me which is why i asked maybe i was doing something wrong

1 minute max and that is not rushing your shots. That is absolutely ridiculous. I think Earl would have run them in about 15 seconds.

...and Luc Salvas or Tony Drago in less than 10 seconds :p

Williebetmore,

This is hard to believe! Since I've never known you to lie or exaggerate on other post, I trust you. But still, this is hard to believe. Was this taped? I would like to see what her body language was on this run. Nevertheless, this is a ridiculous.

Jason,
Here's some unasked for advice - never trust anyone on the internet. However, in this case it is true. The match was not televised (it was the Saturday night finals of the winner's bracket). Both players looked a little tired, but no obvious emotion (but obviously a little tension). This run was only the most heinous example, every game was slow as molasses; not as entertaining as it should have been. In addition, they were not using the Sardo last year, and the racking itself in that match went from a minimum of 3 minutes to a maximum of 8 and a half minutes. Very hard to watch. Oddly enough, in the matches that I saw during that tournament where Karen and Allison were put on the shot clock (I was the timekeeper for one match each), they both seemed to adapt significantly better to the limited time than did their opponents. Having said all that, I still find the WPBA more entertaining than the men's game (except for the after midnight action at the DCC).

OK, here is another position from the same match. Allison takes over 6 minutes to decide on one shot.

In this shot, Allison has just come up short after making the 6 ball. From my angle, I could not tell whether she could make the 7 ball or not. From the 6 minutes and 45 seconds she took before shooting at the seven, I figure it must have been close (perhaps a little throw was necessary). She ended up cutting the seven ball, which hit the first diamond on the long rail and came 3 cushions to the center of the table, the cueball came 2 rails to the center of the table, leaving Karen straight in on the 7. It was such a bad shot by Allison, we weren't sure whether it was an attempted safety or an attempted shot. It sure wasn't very good considering the time spent thinking about it (ponderous). It took Karen only 4 minutes and 11 seconds to run the last 3 balls (at which point we left - I think the match was tied 4-4, but we couldn't take it any more- just waiting for them to rack the balls was agonizing). Please don't think I am bashing Allison or Karen, I have never seen them do this in any other match - I am just bashing slow play in general.
