Its so remote where I live I had no place to by a block of Aluminum .
I went to the salvage yard/metal scrappers and found a 3/16 plate of aluminum
7in X 22in . and some 1/8in angled aluminum.
cost 1.77
I have several taig based lathes and the carriage is made different from the Hightower version to the Mid American cue lathe.
On the carriage of the Mid American cue lathe on the bottom of the back side there is a T bolt grove or cut where a 10x32 square nut will slide into the grove just like the tool holder will.
That is how I secured the dial indicator mounting bracket to the carriage.
I cut the plate 2.5 in x 6in, the angled aluminum is cut 3in lengths.
I gaped the aluminum 0.205 with washers so the dial indicator mount fits between the two pieces of angled aluminum .
I got sloppy on the hole I drilled in the angled aluminum no excuse.
Overhead view,

side view

bottom view ( how the mounting bracket is bolted to the carriage )
Note the dial and the mounting bracket can be removed in seconds .

End view Note the washers which make up thee .205 gap between the two angled pieces of aluminum.

Fowler dial and aluminum materials was 44 bucks add another 4 bucks for bolts.
I hope this helps anyone wanting to do the same thing.
