Moving to Austin

I'll be moving to Austin, TX at the end of the month, and I'm hoping to find some guidance. I finally got a good job, so I'll be looking to get my first table and also try to improve my game through more formal instruction.

there seems to be a lot of pool halls in the area, so any guidance related to good places to play, solid table mechanics for installs, and instructors for an APA 4 with the desire to become much better, would be most welcome

Thanks,
Josh

Come to the Warehouse Saloon on Sunday at 1:00 for free lessons from BCA Master Instructor Rod Gustafson. You can meet him and sign up for private lessons if you wish.

Grand Central Station off Airport Blvd. , Clicks on Oltorf , Skinny Bob's in Round Rock is where you'll find some players . ;)

Thanks Luke. I'll definitely look up Rod Gustafson.

Mr Nobody, I've heard Clicks mentioned quite a bit, I'll definitely check them out too.

I'll likely be moving to north austin, near the round rock area. I hear a lot oabout this place called G Cue. Any thoughts on that place?

Austin sucks. I got robbed of a two thousand dollar camera, 1200 cash and my wallet. ruined my ****ing weekend, the MotoGP race there sucked too. I still cant get over it.

A single incident seems like a good way to judge an entire city. Where did this happen?

lol, a single incident will usually be enough to judge an entire city to the victim. E. 6th street. Texas from New York, Ouch!!! culture shock alert.

Golf in January

You will probably have some culture shock coming from Buffalo but you could do much worse than getting instruction from Rod. He used to run the tourneys back when I started and spent hours helping me. If you want to bust some racks when you get here PM me and I can give you the "skinny" on where and who to play.

Gcue shut down many years ago and has been revived as Skinny Bobs in Round Rock. From what I've seen and heard its a drastic improvement.

I would be happy to play some as well. There are quite a few league and tournament options in the area. I can give you details about some of them as I am sure RFranklin and others can as well. I am usually at Skinny Bob's which will be close to you in North Austin. They have 14 nine footers and will be hosting the Texas Open at the end of August. There is a Fast Eddie's close by too. Shoot me a pm sometime.

I think Rod was giving those clinics 20+ years ago when I lived there! Nice guy and a good instructor, if he's the one I remember. The clinics were good and fun. It's an idea I think more poolhalls should copy to bring in more new players.

Austin is great, even after all the growth. I still miss it.

I'll be in Austin this weekend also. Going to some famous BBQ while I'm there. Staying in downtown marriott. Closest pool tables??

Austin

I will be in town all week. Staying downtown. Does anyone know where the tourneys are and their the formats? Thanks in advance
