There are a few places to play in Cowtown; problem is, they tend to be spread out across the city. In the south end, Classic Q is a decent little hall, and has 9 foot tables. Further south again, you have a larger hall, that used to be called Oc's Billiards (now renamed, due to an ownership change). Can't remember if they have 9 foots there not, but a good sized place. The furthest south hall is called Chalk's Billiards, and it has a fairly informal vibe to it. Mostly 8 ball tables, I recall, and 2 snooker tables. The owner's name is Al, and he always treated me well. He and his family also own the hall that used to be Oc's. Up north, you'll find Mike's Family Billiards, which is another decent sized club, with pool and snooker tables (again, not sure of sizes). I'm sure there are other places that I've overlooked (Stix, Leather Pocket?), but this should get ya started.

Cant go wrong playing at leather pocket. Sun - Thurs from 4 pm - 1 am you pay $7 per person to play as long as you want between those hours. Classic Q is a really good place. Owners are super nice. Jrs tourny are for sure the best. Also tourny on fri 8 ball on 9 ft's at Classic Q. Thurs is same but at Chalks. Got a few cues PM me and mab we can work out a trade if your interested? Or... Just bang some balls.

2 South Calgary Halls are my favorite. Owners are great.

Chills- all tables are 9 footers must be 16 of them; 1 or 2 bar boxes;
best tables in town.

Sunday after 7 PM 3$ per hour per player; during the day I think it is 7$ per table and about 9.5$ per table in the evenings.
Tournaments: Saturday 8-ball: Practice at 1PM; Play at 2PM; entry 15$; $10 payout; if you are out you can play for free until end of the tournament. Great tournament.
Sunday 9- ball same as above
League on Thursday

Chalks: 2 snooker tables; 9 – 9 footers; 2 - 8 footers; 2 bar boxes
Same prices and deals as Chills, same ownership
Tournaments: Thursday 8-ball: Practice at 7PM; Play at 8PM.
Leagues: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday
In the summer Scotch doubles leagues Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday.

Ryan,
Just saw your moving, I wish you the best of luck at your new location.

thanks everyone for the info!

anything on the westside of town?

Chalks, Chill, Classic Q are all west and pretty close to each other. There is Stix, It is south as well but more on the southwest as opposed to south east ish....
Anyway im sure you will find somewhere nice you like to play. Should for sure check out a couple tournys though.

one final question:

can I bring my cues in to the country?

I have very highend Ginacue with ivory everything...I dont to get them confiscated at the boarder either by taking them with me on the plan or shipping them with my house hold goods.

what is the best way to bring them with me?
