Would this be considered an ad hominem attack? So it's acceptable to call someone a fool, what about an idiot..... Where does the line stop?

"I want to point out, that it is a clown act to take your private warning public.

All you have now done is manage to piss me off.

If you want to flame, be warned. If you flaunt the warning, you're a fool.

Ask around, I'm not known for suffering fools for very long."

I understand your curiosity, but I do not understand why a thread should be initiated about the above-referenced topic.

The moderator of any forum is a thankless job, and one thing for sure, there will NEVER be 100-percent agreement in their actions.

I am sure there will be some who will disagree with my opinion, but the moderator shouldn't have to reply or answer to anyone.

What sickens me is that Mr. Wilson -- BEFORE he became moderator -- used to be a great contributing member to this forum.

Today, he can only take care of the "problems" that are brought to his attention. I am sure he cannot enjoy this pool forum anymore, as he used to. I remember reading the thread where he shared a picture of his son and Mike Massey who visited his area. Those days are gone for Mr. Wilson. :frown:

Being a moderator is a dirty job, but somebody's gotta do it. If there is no moderation, then this forum would not be a pleasant place to visit. I believe that.

There's quite a few things about this forum that annoy me, but as a member, I have to respect the rules of the webmaster, AzHousePro. Mr. Wilson, along with several others, is a moderator.

FWIW, the word "fool" was used in the right context in Mr. Wilson's post.

I completely agree with most of your post.

I don't understand why someone is a fool for stating they got a warning.

I interpret the word "fool" as:

1. One who is deficient in judgment, sense, or understanding.
2. One who acts unwisely on a given occasion.

In the context that Mr. Wilson used the word "fool," I think both meanings would apply. As moderator, he does not owe anyone an explanation for his actions, other than the webmaster who is the owner of this website.

If a member of this forum is trying to instigate, flame, or antagonize Mr. Wilson in his role as the moderator of this forum, then, quite frankly, I think Mr. Wilson's usage of the word "fool" was appropriate, as depicted in the above-referenced meaning.

I guess then, that I'm the "fool", because I still don't see the harm in stating you have recieved a warning.

You are not a "fool," Rodney.

I guess what I am trying to say is that the moderator's actions should not be a discussion for a thread.

If a moderator sends a member a PM, then it is a PRIVATE message. Maybe the moderator is trying to be discreet and handle an unpleasant matter off the public forum, to preserve the integrity of the public forum, if you will.

If the moderator wanted to state on the public forum an infraction of the forum rules to a member, that is a moderator's prerogative.

Some posters seem to egg the moderators sometimes, pushing the limits of the boundaries of the rules, so to speak, IMHO.

Moderated forums seem to cause consternation with some members, but there are some things on this forum that bother me a lot more than moderation, like members who have been banned multiple times, only to return under a new identity, as one example, or having to fade women's fake breasts and genitals in avatars.

Sometimes we have take the bad with the good and the good with the bad, I guess. :grin-square:

I'd disagree with you. A moderator should be held to a slightly higher standard, as their posts set the tone for the whole forum. When they come off angry, and break their own rules with personal insults that to me says its fair game. It is a thankless job, but usually its a volunteer that does it. Someone that wants that responsibility, and usually the power that goes along with it.

Saying we should not discuss it is like saying we shouldn't discuss politicians, presidents, school teachers, or even our bosses.

im curious about one thing , most of us go to alot of other boards . AZ is the only one i frequent where people poke sticks at the mods . the moderator does not need to answer to us peon members ,and posting about the moderator was a jab plain and simple to try to stir the pot . i would love to think most here are grown men but i see alot of crying and whining . truly sad from what i have read it seems like alot of members here think they own this site.

Very well stated. You're going to fit in this place just fine!

I'd "rep" you with a few more green boxes under your name, but I will have to wait until tomorrow. I'm all repped out for today! :o

My question is a legitimate one. You can percieve it anyway you like, but if no one questioned authority, where would this country be?

I don't see where I'm crying or whining, merely asking a question. If asking is against the rules, then so be it.

Mr. Wilson's statement before locking the thread is nothing more than a double standard. Varney is allowed to threaten people with a gun and poolplayer can't talk about a warning he got and then gets a public insult form a MODERATOR?

I call BS...................................

Can you say hypocrite?

Hopefully someone will look up the definition of hypocrite and post it here to see if it fits Mr. Wilson.

Unfortunately, the way Varney is treated or ignored by the moderators is only one example.

well being a newbie i might get jumped on but it seems from what i have read and seen posted i think the mods are giving alot of patience to everyone . from all the bashers comment i have read alot of member have broken several rules - including name calling , posting things not true , and using derogatory comments to members . it is kinda the ole pot meet kettle and calling out a mod is not very smart and this site is not a co op owned by members you have an opportunity to be a member not to act like site owner and the rules members accepted folks agreed too and if not then they should go elsewhere. im just saying ...

i know for a fact on other boards i go to if someone calls out a mod they are banned on the spot . i hope the mods here remove alot of this bs and posting flame wars. and im not talking directly about you but alot of folks on here are downright childish and immature .

henry,
without us AZ would be nothing, if there's no people on here advertisers wouldn't be interested. Some people have vested their money in this website, theyre the ones with yellow bands that say club members. I agree thats the mods deserve alot of respect around here, but if they wanted to save themselves alot of time and aggrivation all they have to do is ban varney.
If you have such a low view of AZ compared to other message boards why did you join here?

well i have no horse in this race but i disagree az would be nothing without some members . i think the folks who want Mr varney banned have stepped into the same bed and anyone who continues to bash and name call should be banned . i would not have joined if i did not like az forums all im saying is other sites are not as lienant as az is . i think im gonna enjoy my time but i am also going by the terms of service also because im a good person and also because i have a privilege to be a member here not a right . i think alot of members here have forgotten that. im not getting into the bashfesting but with curiosity i have read some of it as anyone would and i agree with what one mod said about if you have no interest or in a business interaction with someone here buying/selling then basically said person has no business bashing. i have read alot of postings where some members here think they are az police and post like they are above other members .

anyway im out and thanks for listening time to take my kid fishing . everyone have a good afternoon

no website is anything without people on it, thats how a website makes money. The more people on the site the more money they can make from advertising.

im pretty sure az would be fine and continue healthy growing and new members coming in even if all bashers and member police were banned. i think the continued trashtalking is only hurting the site and for some reason they think they are helping but in reality it leaves a bigger black mark . like i have stated im a newbie but been a lurker but i still joined and hope to make alot of friends and learn alot but i have to admit i did have in back of my mind alittle leary of joining because of the constant badmouthing . anyway take care

politics

This forum is reminding of the little league I played in. Boils down to the above word. I dont understand this? These types of threads, the favoritism, and the overwhelming prevalence of hostility, were almost non-existent when I joined this forum. What is the deal? I usually stay away from this, but it has come a concern when I come home and look forward to some worthy discussion and such, only to find this?????????????????
