since i'm working, and bored, i would like to see how many multi-player games we can come up with. i'll start with the obvious ones.

ring 9

doubles both regular and scotch

cut-throat

i have a few others but, left room for responses.

Chicago, 10 ball, pill pool, & golf.

You seem to have all my favorites covered.

A friend of mine likes to play golf on a snooker table. I wouldn't dare. And, I recently discovered that you can lose a pretty good chunk of change playing 50 cent pill pool.

I would be interested in the way you play Chicago. We used to play that the players who make the one and five are partners. If the same player makes both, he partners with the player who makes the next money ball, and so on. I think that's a good way to play, especially if those playing are of different ability levels. We had 5 ways to score, including points. In fact, some people called the game "Ways." How do you play? What balls are money balls?

For three people playing snooker, the most fun is playing 2 against one, and rotating partners. Much better than every man for himself because every other game you get the same table time as if you were playing singles.

We sometimes play with "5 Ways" and sometimes "6 Ways". The ways are "1, 5, 10, 15, Most number of balls and points".

You are describing "Grandpa" which can be played with any game. Much of the one-pocket I know I owe to playing grandpa with better players. It is a great way to learn because two out of every three games you have someone showing you what the correct shot is and why. I play a regular 1-pocket grandpa game every tues. Just make sure not to play grandpa with strangers, because if they know each other, they could make sure that the best you could do is break even..

Keely is a fun pill game. Make a lot of money quick in that game, and lose it slowly. Great with 5 or more people.
