Multiple Cue Balls

Anyone ever play pool with more than one cue ball on the table? Seems like it might be an interesting type of game.

Only when I was a kid and I was too cheap to put .50 in the table. I used to use the cueballs to practice on my english. What kind of game are you thinking about?

It's called Billiards. :)

I've tried practicing with 5 cb's on the table: a dotted cb, a jim rempe training ball, & 3 aramith whites. Kinda fun to practice with since you'll be forced to focus on the "line" than the ob:D

I've also tried playing 9-ball with a dotted cb as the main cb and a white cb as the 10th ball or the backup cb. If the main cb scratches, the extra cb takes its place. If the extra cb scratches, the game ends:D

I am thinking about 8, 9 or 10 Ball with two cue balls. Seems you could make your shot, use english to move "his" cue ball to a bad spot and or run out. Alternatively you could shoot a two way shot making sure not to leave the next ball in a 9-Ball game where the opponent can get it. Offense defense takes on a new dimension.

A wierd combination of billiards and pool. I wonder what would happen??

If you pot his CB with a carom hit he can't shoot out of there :-) or would it spot, or be ball in hand, or what???

dunno, your the one making this game up, hehe, but Ill spot ya the cue ball, race to 7 for a dime!

OK your on. If you pot the opponet's CB, it is loss of turn and he gets ball in hand anywhere on the table.

If you scratch with your cue ball it is loss of turn. On your next shot you have to shoot from the opposite end of the table for your next object ball with your cb ball frozed to the rail. Your cueball does not come back to the table until it is your shot (thus giving him a clear table).

i am kinda digging this idea...but hows about if you pocket his cue ball off of a carom he loses his next turn...his cue ball stays down until your second miss..if you carom his off 3 times he is loser.. like playing tipps in 21 (b-ball)

when he pulls his cue ball out its a kitchen scratch...he only losses turn off of a carom, a straight shot on his ball results in loss of turn and BIH to the shooter...

10 ball rules otherwise.... sounds cool

joew's got a point though, it could be an interesting game. having a cue ball each. but i'm useless at making things up like this so i'll leave it for somebody else to come up with a game out of it.

I like your idea better, you get paid for taking him out.
If you scracth with your cue ball its a kitchen scratch. simple is better.

Thanks....
I am thinking that something like this has to have been played by somebody before... otherwise we will hold the naming rights!!:D

anyway...you play with normal 10/9ball rules...

3 caroms knock out
after a knock out players losses turn and he comes back on the table with a kitchen scratch..

conversely a shot or any other carom besides a cue ball carom that drops the o.p's cue results in loss of turn and kitchen scrach on his return to the table and gives BIH to the incoming player

Lets play

You could call it "Az Billiards." LOL

You are a genius!!

it could end up being a calling card of sorts...if you roll inot a place ans see to dudes banging around 2 cue balls..then you would know that you were amongst friends:p

We will consider it

I've heard of a local good player, now deceased, who used to play a game with a Mark Anthony, where they used two cue balls. The mark had choice of cue balls, somehow and COULD NOT WIN. Jay, ever hear of anythiing like this? I don't know what game, I think Straight Pool, but I never did hear for certain.

I like AZ billiards. Sort of a calling card. Now we need to hear some other comments and then formalize the rules. Lets see -- no guns allowed (as in 357).:D

Ok......

so here we go

lag for break
game starts with a normal 10 ball rack
set up with the extra cue ball placed in dead center of the table
and normal break rules to start the game
as a matter of fact all normal rules apply with the addition of the knock out rules.

Knockouts

cue ball caroms into other players cue ball are the only knock outs counted

any other manner of pocketing the o.p's cue results in loss of turn and bih to the incoming player *****and a count of 1 knockout is awarded to the incoming player*****

once a player is knocked out he returns to the table with bih behind the head string ...normal kitchen scratch rules apply in regards to OBs behind the line.

****Kockouts most be nominated***

any combination of 3 legal carom knockouts/illegal knockouts to o.ps cueball / result in loss of game for that player

otherwise regular 10 BALL RULES APPLY

oh yeah
the o.p's cue ball maybe used in combinations as long as it is not pocketed

however legal contact must be to the OB first.

does that about cover it ?
