This is one outstanding cue Kenny built for me.
The cue is still full spliced under the wrap.
Joint, inlays and ferrules are ivory. Piloted joint. The butt cap is derlin. The wrap is a ringtail lizard that Steve Klein was gracious enough to sell to me for the project.
The cue was sold to me as being ebony. As it turns out it was'nt. Kenny believes the cue is either desert ironwood or a very dark pernambucko. He leaned more towards the ironwood. In either case, not a common wood for a Hoppe.
One interesting note about the cue. The gentleman I purchased it from said the cue had been shown to both R. Haley and J. Showman at I believe Hopkins about 2 years ago. They both passed on the project. The reason being, the forearm and veneers were completely separated from the butt.
The restoration work Kenny did is outstanding. The cue hits solid. No clicks or odd sounds.
