Must see poolrooms

I asked my 7 year old son Jin if he wanted to go to Disneyland next year and he said "No, I want to goto Steinway Billiards". Not only that but William Finnegan from the hustlers show reached out to him after he heard through a mutual friend and has been chatting with him on FB Messenger. You will see my kids' picture as his cover photo on his FB.

So Steinway it is for us, we are combining a trip to the 2018 Super Billiard Expo next year to try and reduce funds leaving my empty pocket.
I shed a tear. Lol
That is fantastic. I'll keep an eye out for you at the Expo.

Great thread. Making a list of all the great responses.

If you are in Germany in the near of Cologne, go to the Pool&Blues (http://www.pool-blues.com/bilder/) in Bergisch Gladbach. My favorite place and home of my Team.

21 ninefoot table, 1 Snooker table, 3 steeldart boards, 7 e-dart boards, 1 tablesoccer and a big lounge area with beamer.

Speaking of Germany, last time I was out there(2003), I went to Club der Billardfreunde 1948 Mönchengladbach ...... played with a girl named Jenny for a few hours.

Very nice room. Wonder what ever happened to Jenny.

Theres a few pool rooms that are fantastic but less attractive all because of a single detail. That detail that ruins the poolroom for the majority of potential visitors is that they allow smoking.

Have to agree with that. Being from NJ I'm spoiled, no smoking allowed. I went to Raytown Rec in KC. Great old school room but the smell of smoke made it less enjoyable.

Just re-read post. This has to be on here. I've never been but I would definitely go, smoking or non-smoking. And I don't smoke. Love the history!!
From ALSTL in the Samuel Clemens thread:
.....

There is a pool hall in Columbia MO where I live named Booches which has been in continuous operation since 1884. There is also an old hotel which is now student housing which dates to that era and which Twain stayed in for a while. I wasn't aware he was a pool player but I wouldn't be surprised if he hit some balls in Booches. The tables are old Balke Collanders and there is a 3 cushion table.
