My BHQ Butterfly cue review...

Backgrounder: Brent posted this cue last June '08 on EPT. I immediately contacted him to get this cue and finalize the specs. Brent was such an easy person to deal with. My hats off to him.

I finally got this cue yesterday (Jan 2, 2009). I was off from work that day and my colleague in warehouse called to inform me a package has arrived. The tracker in USPS says it was delivered. I was so excited, I took a shower rightaway to head off. It was also just the right time as I will be meeting with fellow pool enthusiast to shoot some pool later on.

When I received the box, it didn't look good. The box was beaten up badly. I really suggest cuemakers to package their cues for shipment as shown here --> Wrapping Cues for shipment. Taking that extra step is well worth it. Fortunately enough, nothing went wrong with my baby.

At first glance, the shaft was so smooth and was well finished. The cue butt was finished really well too. When I run my hand with my glove, you can feel the various steps as the shaft and butt grows at each point. A thing of beauty for Parabolic Taper nutz like me. I can just imaging how this cue will play.

At first bat, the cue feels firm and solid. The balance is good to my liking. It floats in my bridge hand and really feels good on my stroking hand. Shoot some shots that I usually do when testing a cue. It brought smiles to my face, actually I was grinning from ear to ear. This will be my player for now on to get accustomed to it's performance. It will also give me ideas on what needs to be tweaked to even give it that UHM!!! that I prefer on my cues.

Brent, I thank you so much, the cue is well worth it and then some. A lot of cue for the money.

ps: from now on , anything sent over the pond will be inside PVC pipe
me thinks those postal guys cant read "FRAGILE" that was written in big black marker all over the box
or they dont care??????
i sent blowfish some pics of the package before shipping

i've wondered about if customs goes thru them and doesnt repack them very well
apparently that is the case
wish he'd got some pics of what it looked like when he received it for comparison
well, i'm just happy the cue wasnt damaged
perhaps, it was just pure luck this time

Brent, There was a pix of me with the cue, but it sure wasn't clear to even be posting it here. I'll have one soon when I return back to the pool hall sometime next weekend.

The postal guys won't give a damn even if you put the word fragile into them. They just throw it anyway as they need to work fast. So far, I've only received 1 package that was in pieces when I got to me. It was a shaft sent from New Zealand.

Thanx,

Still no pix of me with the cue, but I have an update. :)

I just changed the tip to Kamui Black (H), lo and behold, the cue plays like a dream now. Brent, that Cuetec tip sucks. That tip still is too soft for my taste buds. :D

you're the first to say TOO soft.
others have said too hard. :)

I want my cue to hit hard. When I say hard, I really mean hard. ;)

My next cue should have the same butt and shaft taper as this cue plus a SuperPro tip. :D

I played last night with a Super Pro Tip and this is tooooooooooo hard for my Taste, can take it as Break Tip,hold the Chalk very well.

glad you found the right tip for you
i havent ever tried the kamui or super pros,
they seem to be the popular choice these days

I've been experimenting a lot with tips and various shafts that I have. I like my cues to be 3/8x10, so I can even experiment more by inter-changing the shafts with different butts. If I like the tip, it stays on the cue, if not I take them out and move to another. I got this Kamui Black (H) just yesterday and I placed it on your cue. This one I like. I also keep in mind which shaft works with which butt.

Here are my current choice of tips...

1. SuperPro (my default choice)
2. Talisman WB (H & M)
3. Pre-Moori III (Q & M)
4. Pre-Kamui II (H & M)
5. Molavia (H)
6. Kamui Black (H & M)
7. Pressed Ingot (for Break Cue)
8. Black Ingot (for Jump Cue)
