Just thought that I would share my new pair of cues. I have always liked pink ivory and butterfly points so I had Paul Drexler make me a pair of cues that I have always dreamed of.
One cue has a pigskin wrap and the other is made of cork. The cork feels fantastic. Well worth the wait and worth the money. I hope that you all enjoy them too.

Very nice pair of cues! I like the butterfly points also. Is the dark wood shaft purple heart?

Thanks, yes the dark shaft is purple heart. I have 3 other shafts as well, one predator custom and 2 with IvorX ferrules. I am very happy with them.

I bought the Purple heart shaft for breaking only and had a hard layered tip put on it. To my surprise, I really like the hit of it for shooting as well.
I have several other shafts that I got with the pair as well and have not decided which one to shoot with yet.. The IvorX ferruled shaft, The Predator or the Ivory ferruled... Still trying to decide..

Mind if I ask...are you a preacher? The crosses on the cues is why I ask. I personally am not a big fan of butterfly points, but those cues are nice. Be curious as to how the cork feels, and how easy it is to keep clean. Nice pair ya got there Joe!

Shorty,

Nope, Not a preacher but I do a very strong Christian faith and I wanted a cue that says something about what I believe in. Hopefully it will open up doors to share my faith with others that may ask about it.

The cork wrap is the best feeling wrap that I have ever had in my hands. I ordered the cork wrapped cue as the sister to the shooting cue but I like the feel so much, I will probably shoot with that until I send the other one back to have cork put on it as well. I have played with every wrap that I know of and REALLY like cork the best. The other cue is pig skin wrap which is extremely nice but the cork is the bomb as far as feel goes. I do not see the seam anywhere on the cork! Paul did an excellent job on these cues for me and I love the hit. They feel identical with respective shafts other than the wrap of course.

The purple heart shaft was ordered to break with but it also plays quite nice. It will remain the break shaft for the cue that I decide to break with that day. Of course all shafts are interchangable on both cues. Thanks for the comments. Joe

Hey, I like that idea! That sounds cool...I may have to look into getting that on a custom some day. I am still in a search so to speak as to what I want. I have certain details nailed down, but still kinda looking for that special cuemaker to make it, and one I can afford. The big names are just too expensive for me.

Nice Cues

Those are some nice cues you have there. I actually saw them in person before the wraps were put on. Nice choice of colors too. I actually have 2 PFDs of my own and another on the way. I hope to get some pics up sometime. One is Tulipwood with 4 ebony points, tulipwood pointed rectanges in the ebony butt with an ivory border and 4 ivory diamonds in butt and in the points, and a black lizard wrap. My second is a takeoff on a titleist except with some of the most incredible cocobolo you'll ever see for the points and the butt. 4 Veneers tan, lt brown, green, maroon, inside to out, and a cognac lizard wrap. My next one is going to be ebony with 6 staggered tulipwood points and a pattern in the butt I designed myself and can't really describe. It will be my first ivory jointed cue and also have an ivory buttcap.

I really can't say enough about how helpful and available Paul is during the whole ordering process, and his standard is perfection. He also has some of the best quality woods of any of the cuemakers IMO. I'm probably going to be done with PFDs and new cues in general for a little while, but I'd highly recommend calling Paul if you're looking for a nice custom. He can do just about anything you can think up.

Burt,

I would have to agree. Paul was really great to work with and very professional. I have owned MANY MANY cues and his ranks at the very top of the ones that I own or have owned. His standards are very high which I found evident when I received the cues.
I look forward to seeing the ones that he made for you. Post me some pics or send them via email.

Peace!

parabolic shaft taper?

How does the parabolic shaft taper on PFD cues play? Or did you have him taper them the standard way? If they are the parabolic tapers I am rather interested in knowing what that feels like. Thanks for the info, those cues are gorgeous, and the crosses make a rather bold statement which needs to be said more often. Good luck with sharing your faith with others that ask about them.

I did not request a special taper, it is Paul's standard taper. I am not familiar with the "parabolic" taper as you called it but I like the way they hit. The cues have a firm hit, which I prefer. I also had a pair of custom Predator shafts made which I am playing with and plan to use exclusively.
Thanks for the compliments, I am extremely happy with the finished product. I got even more than I asked for with these cues! Paul was great to work with.
