My breaks harder and better but the cue flies high, suggestions?

It's pretty much a given that no one is breaking with a perfectly level cue. All of us are going to have some downward angle.
If your break stroke is consistant, then moving the closer or farther away from the rack will give you different results. The tricks here are having a consistant break stroke, and then finding the optimal distance for your own break.

after downloading and reading that article on bustamante's break, I decided to work on my own. I havent had alot of time to work with it but I have implemented a few changes in my break, and I have to say Im hitting the balls harder, the one fuller and i move the 9 all over the table. Heres the thing, im getting a pretty high cueball hop on every break. I concentrate completely on the cueball as I break now, so i dont really see how high it jumps, but in my peripheral vision id say its a foot at least, maybe more. It comes back down and normally dies mid table, but if it lands on another ball i realise its probably gonna foul. I know im probably semi-jumping the cueball into the pack which is making it fly up, but my break is so much better and harder....what can i do? Im breaking off the side, about 4 to 6 inches from the diamond. Is it just supposed to do that or am i doin something wrong?
here's a question for you... are you applying any english at all to CB? Follow will tend to make it jump but usually well off the table... extreme draw is too low on the cueball and will make it hop on it's way towards the pack... try using just below center... it will level out your cue and almost stop it dead center table.

--- I played on _new_ simonis the other day and could actually see the marks from my break spots, and where the cue landed on the bounce. Mine was hitting consistently about 6-8 inches in front of the rack, on an 8ft table. I knew the break did that, but it was nice to see exact data on it. I suspect my 9ball break on a bar box hits the head ball :D

yeh im hitting just below center, maybe a half tip.........the cueball is jumping up maybe a foot or a little more (like i said i see it out of the corner of my eye).....then it comes back down and pretty much dies mid table. Its a great break except for the the height......ive never moved the 9 around as much as i am right now.

Strike the Cue Ball slightly below center, like for a stop shot. This will help greatly in keeping it on the table. And, of course, keep your cue at or near level when breaking.
