My cue smells bad

Bought a palmer cue off ebay. Love it but someone covered the butt in wax apparently. It has a strong odor. Anybody ever see something like this?.what did you do? Cleaners don't work.
I have had a local cue maker clean and press my linen wrap and what ever he uses smells like rancid cooking oil.
But it goes away in a day or two if left out in the open.

Just keep it away from your nose and you'll be fine

Unfortunately water-based 'protectants' aren't recommended for butts. It's probably oil-based which will require some sort of solvent. Unfortunately impurities can become dissolved in the oil-based products leading to unpleasant odors. You might try putting the butt on a diet high in fiber and refrain from feeding it for several hours before you intend to use it.

Wait, what's the question?
