Maybe I’ll get the new versionIt has a lifetime warranty. Send it back in and they will replace it.
That is what they would replace it with. They don't sell the gen 1 or gen 2 anymore.Maybe I’ll get the new version
That’s what I thought. Looks like someone used hardly any epoxy on the ferrel insert. Not that unusual. If you're covered by warranty, email McDermott, if not any competent cuemaker can fix that.
Well it should be a tight fit, so it will only be a thin layer of epoxy, so that's normal. The issue is almost always bad prep and the wrong epoxy used. That’s what I thought. Looks like someone used hardly any epoxy on the ferrel insert.
Well that's pointless...Shaft started making a strange noise
They will replace any gen 1/2 with a gen 3 for $150 as well. That is what they would replace it with. They don't sell the gen 1 or gen 2 anymore.
Contact the folks at McDermott first. Give them a chance to make things right.Shaft started making a strange noise

What happened? Did the Defy vault plate pop out of the shaft?
If so, and you don't want to go to the trouble of working with McDermott, can this be fixed by sanding off the old glue, cleaning with isopropyl alcohol, and regluing with super glue?
Here's a picture of a 2026 Defy front end. Doesn't look like your photo

A buddy in my Sunday league has a third gen that he bought late last year and I am almost certain that it has a gray ferrule/vault plate similar to the OPs. If I remember, I'll take a picture of it.View attachment 904201
