Any Doberman owners out there? I am getting near retirement and need a new puppy to train to guard my cue collection. Had to make this pool related, right? I am trying to find information about Susan Berst of Pyrmont Kennels in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada. I bought a dog from her back in the 70's and would like another at least from the same bloodlines. Any help would really be appreciated. I lost my Dad recently. Need a new best friend.

I have two great male dobes who are both sons of my now deceased male. I also owned that old male's sister--utterly FANTASTIC SCHUTZHUND DOBES. No kidding, my old male (who died on Labor Day 2003) was quite possibly ONE OF THE FEW BEST DOBES WHO EVER LIVED.

But the only way to get great dobes is to go straight to Germany--and you have to buy pups and bring them here to tail dock and trim ears. All surgical alterations are now STRICTLY FORBIDDEN in Europe. But the German dogs are BY FAR the best.

There's nothing like a dobe. They are always listed among the top five in intelligence of all dog breeds. But they most certainly WILL chew cues. I had a wooden combo futon/couch, made from VERY HEAVY pine. The first time I left two young dobes for the day around that couch (they were about six months old) it literally looked like BEAVERS had been loose in my house all day: 5X5 blocks of pine were chewed down to a point!! I just smiled!

I owned some as a kid. Best, most loyal dogs on earth. Sorry for your loss. Good luck with your new friend!

Looking for European Bloodlines

Mrs.Berst's Dobes were from Holland, that's why I was trying to connect with her. I am only interested in dogs or maybe a ***** with European bloodlines. Pyrmont Dobermans were champions in both confirmation and obedience. I really miss mine still. He was a great pal. If you guys can help me out or know someone that can, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks..SteveD

If you contact the Thunder Bay Kennel Club you might be able to find out what happened to her breeding stock

Dobes are great dogs, especially the imported ones. If you consider another breed look into the Presa Canario. The ultimate guard. Google 'em up. I have one and I greatly admire this breed.

A friend it would be.

I have an akc rottie that I would like to have another of. Breeder was just some guy out of the paper...anybody know how I could possibly follow her bloodline?
