My first ever pool tournament

I did well! It was a small tournament, $3 buy in, 28 shooters in all (6 women), 8 ball call pocket double elimination, and I ended one spot away from the money and 3rd place. I got LUCKY. I only won the first game by skill and he had 3 balls left on the table when I sunk the 8, the rest: bad 8 ball shots (wrong pocket, scratch shots).

It wasn't a total loss. I did walk away with a drink card (6 free beers or mixed drinks) for being the last woman playing, so that's not so awful. I wish I were a drinker, but I'm not. ;)

And I got some valuable experience. Even the best players muff it up sometimes. It's not over till it's over.
:grin::grin::grin::grin:

I wish I knew how to post pictures here without having to host it somewhere else. Is that possible?

skiergirl55...Good for you! That's a pretty good field for you to finish 3rd on your first try! You'll probably make some friends by giving away the drinks!
You're sure right about even the best playing making errors. I've seen world champions do it, on shots that would have won them the tournament! Nobody is immune!...and about the "it's never over 'til it's over"! Don't EVER forget that. Make everybody shoot EVERY shot! Good luck in your next tournament.:thumbup:

Fun,huh?

I like tournament play. I get nervous and screw up but I like it when my opponent is trying to play 100 percent. Congrats on your success and it was a success. :clapping:

Oops. By 'one spot away from the money and 3rd place', I meant 4th place. Had I won that last game......I would have had it.

Still, I didn't have to win by putting in the 8 ball. As one of the other ladies told me when I felt bad for not winning 'fair and square'......"A big part of the game is controlling the cue ball AND the object ball. Those guys didn't do that and that's why they lost."

She's right, and I don't feel bad about a win like that anymore.:)

Congrats, the more you play the more comfortable you will feel. You will soon have the confidence it takes to win one of these and climb up the tournament ladder.

Your cat gives me the heebie-jeebies. Oh, and congrats on a solid showing at your first tourney! :)

"Spokane got talent" :grin-square:
