My First Gilbert cue

I know that there are several Gilbert fans out there. This is a cue I had Andy make about 8 years ago. I designed it (using AutoCAD if can imagine, what a nerd).

It has 5 points. For you triva guys there isnt a signature but a "G" on the buttcap which was Andy's way for a few earlier years.

Thoughts?

Thanks
Ken

Nice cue, but hey what's wrong with being a CAD user. I'm a designer and use it everyday

AutoCAD

Kevin -

At one time I was looking at trying to put together a "scripting" so anyone could use AutoCAD to describe what they wanted for cuemakers.

In dealing with cuemakers though, I guess they have been accustomed to hand drawn sketches for so long, it isnt a real help for them.

I am a Senior Electrical Engineer, and I use AutoCAD less and less now. But at one time I was fairly good.

I still have the AutoCAD drawings of several of my custom cues. Nerdy? maybe.

Email me the .dwg files I would love to see them.

Nice cue...nice design!

I ran into Andy Gilbert at a pool room in St. Louis many years ago. He had about 6 cues with him. I had never heard of him at that time, but I seem to remember the cues he was showing me had a "G" in the butt cap just like yours.

Pretty cue...well designed. Just enough turquoise. Would love to see bigger pics, say 800x600. I love the wood grain I see though!

Andy makes one helluva nice cue.

The wood is ebony and the cue is close to 21 oz. The burl points are not a true splice, they are put as an inlay. Andy said he couldnt get as splice.

The green is actually malichite not turquoise.

The white is NOT ivory.

Its embarassing how little Andy charged me for the cue.

What is even better is that I took the drawing and "unwrapped it". Obviously the taper makes it a "pie" (kinda) shaped drawing.

Circles are not round.

I crack me up. But you know what I mean.
