My first transaction with Kevin Varney.

Like many others on this forum, I wanted to post thoughts on my first experience dealing with our own Kevin Varney (Varney Cues). This is all probably something that most people on here have heard before, but I am going to post it anyhow. I have never known Kevin before this forum and have never actually met him.

Locally, I really don't have anyone I can trust to do my cue maintenance, repairs, etc. Being relatively new to the forums, I had been quietly "lurking" to find a cue maker whose reputation preceded him/her. Reading many posts on his workmanship, quality cues, and especially his generosity, I decided to contact Kevin to have a tip changed on one of my shafts. Granted, a tip change is a minor thing to do, but you always start somewhere right?

First, everything about my transaction with Kevin was extremely smooth. From the time I first contacted Kevin, he graciously and speedily answered all of my questions, no matter how trivial. I even had the opportunity to chat with Kevin on the phone to discuss concerns.

The shaft arrived this morning. The only way I could have gotten it completed sooner was if I drove the 12 hours to Kevin's and waited in the shop while he did the work.

I had Kevin install a Sniper tip for me. I must say the workmanship is excellent. The tip installation is extremely well done and every attention to detail was made. I tried to take pictures, but my camera really sucks for close up shots. But I am sure every one knows what quality looks like.

To sum all of this up:
Communication is excellent.
Workmanship, quality, attention to detail are second to none.

I even got on the waiting list for a J/B and I will probably be having Kevin make me a custom cue in the near future.

I will be recommending Kevin to anyone that needs cues and or repairs.

Kevin: Thank you so much for an excellent transaction. This speaks volumes to someone that really had no idea what to expect. It was a pleasure to do business with you & I really can't wait until I am at the top of the waiting list. :)

Thank you very much for the kind words Craig. You are a gentleman and a pleasure to do business with. Glad I was able to make you happy.:)

mechanic/player...your new "player" is getting closer.;)

You will not go wrong with Kevin. He is the only one I will ever let touch my cues. If he works on your stuff then you already know why. His work is as professional as possible. I've watched him work before and he takes steps and care that others do not. No secret why so many pro's use him like Kelly & Allison Fisher. I'm lucky that I live near him!:)
