That looks a nice product. There’s a lot of products out there that you could easily spend some good money on. We simply don’t have the funds for it so we’re going bare bones with this build out for now.

One good thing about this place is that my great uncle put in a few swales years ago to divert all the water away from the house. In their first couple years they lost the basement due to rain flooding a few times. Ever since they put in the swales, they haven’t had a problem since. When I demo’d the lower level, there wasn’t a single trace of any moisture problems. They never had a problem with it.

Then we come along and the basement floods out four times now in a month. Water from inside the house though. But those issues are resolved. Mostly operator error.

The below pic probably doesn’t make sense to anyone but me. Trying to figure out where to put the new lally columns and what kind of space I’ll have before I dig the footers tomorrow. Anyway, I clearly need to head to bed.

Also, I have well water.
I wired the pump to a second switch at the top of my stairs. I switch it off whenever I leave the house lol.
YUP! I flooded at my previous house. It was a hurricane though.
I took a lot of extra precautions here.

I call that the "mechanical laser".
I tell the apprentices: "It's always calibrated and never needs batteries!" Lol
We use both, but some like to bash poor old "bob".😉 You're getting there!

Lol thanks man I appreciate it. The switch for the well is a good idea. Definitely beneficial. Might do that at our place.

Half bath roughed in. Kind of. Still needs some work but it’s taking shape. The half bath they had down here before was huge. Wasted space in my opinion. This half bath will be small, but functional. That’s all we need.

We angled the door wall with the hopes of having a full cue or damn near close on that corner of the table. This was our best option without removing the window, digging up the concrete to reroute the plumbing etc etc.

I'm a carpenter and have never seen this before. It's a really good idea, did you think of it yourself?
I have to give credit to the Google Gods. :)

I saw a blog post where someone else did it and the light bulb went off in my head. Our basement has never had any moisture issues but I wanted to build it out in a way that would make it more bullet proof.

Big progress made this weekend. The footers are officially poured. This job absolutely sucked by the way. The footer that had to go under the furnace was a nightmare. But it’s done. Time to move on to something else. 15 days until this all has to be finished out.

I know how time consuming some of this is having done basement projects in my last two houses. They were both more like 12 month projects with mostly weekend work.

I wish you luck but I think getting to the finish line from there in 2 weeks only happens on HGTV.

Back to the big box store after work for a little more lumber, pre-hung door for the half bath and some other odds and ends. Have to go pick up the new lally columns from the hardware store. Then headed home to get more done.

Just picked up the two new lally columns. Funny thing is, in the beginning, I was so motivated to reinforce the beam to get rid of the column in the middle of the room and now I’m using the columns to my advantage. The columns were $75 each. So $150 compared to $4700 to reinforce the beam. I’m good with that.
