My Home Pool Room Journey

Got it:

Laminate.

Open ceiling painting- not recommended.

It honestly wasn’t too bad. I made two mistakes. 1) I rented an airless paint sprayer from Home Depot. The sprayer worked great. The problem was, I had the nozzle opened way too much and didn’t realize it until I was really going. Paint rained down and dripped everywhere. 2) When I started, I didn’t realize the purge tube was not in the paint bucket. A bunch of paint dumped on the floor in a matter of seconds.

well I used to applaude your work...now I see you have a Brunswick light I hate you..JK...were do you find it??? I have been looking for a year, can't fid one..well, for a price I can afford. I have everything lined up except a light....starting to think I will just buy one of those amazon billiards light for 150. As always, awesome work, you are getting close!!!!! I sent all my stuff out for powder coating, so my goal is when it comes back in 2-3 weeks I want to be ready to setup table. I think ill make it!! Keep at it

Thank you! Greatly appreciated. I got lucky and was able to acquire my light from a local pool hall that closed.

If I were you, I’d build my own light using pine board or wood of your choice and two, 2x4 led panels. That was the plan until I came across the Brunswick light.

The place is a mess. Flooring needs to be finished. Floors and carpet need to be cleaned. But I’m at a point where the table can be installed on the area rug. Going to stop installing the flooring for now, clean the floors and drag all of the table components into the room and get things ready.

Looks great!! A suggestion for the area rug. Get some Alien tape for the edges of the rug to hold it to the laminate so the edges don't lift up after use. It is great because it will not leave tacky residue on the laminate. I have done it to a couple friends tables and all of my area rugs and they never move even with my dogs running across them!

Will do. Thanks for the advice. We bought some carpet tape for the carpet stair treads and that stuff is strong! Ripped the finish right off. I’ll definitely look into the Alien tape. Thanks!

The table is in!!!!!!!!! Full cue all around, as planned. Oscar and his helpers were incredible. Such a nice guy and talk about precise. The man knows his stuff.

All the hard work it took to get to this point is really starting to feel like it’s paying off. There’s still a lot of work to do to get it finished up but I’m extremely happy right now. I’ve been waiting for this for a long time.

Know what? I’m not doing a damn thing the rest of the day/tonight. Time to pop some tops and play some pool.

Makes sense. An airless puts out a lot of paint!! Drip drip drip! Once you are set up properly it works great, Cleaning it always sucks though 😳

Having done two basements, one 97% just me by myself and a larger one where I jobed out half of it, I am impressed with how quickly you got to the point where you could get the table in. My first took over a year of occasional evenings and most weekends.

You have good taste in color too...almost a twin of my place.

Thanks man. I was down there grinding every night after work until late. Every Saturday and Sunday day and night. Your room is very nice. Hope to get mine finished out like that soon.

Congratulations, it was fun following your journey.

Thanks pal. I appreciate that. I’m going to keep going at the same speed, motivation until it’s done. I don’t want the finishing part lingering on. I have plenty of other projects to move on to.

I just wanted to take a moment and thank everyone that followed along and provided encouragement/advice/recognition and positivity throughout this process. You guys have been great between the responses to the thread and all the PM’s I received. Thank you guys.

The room isn’t done yet. I’m going to keep grinding to get it finished out. However, I won’t be posting every little update any longer. Instead, when the room is completely “done” I’ll take some final pics and a video and make a separate post.

A lot of people doubted my timeline. A lot of hours and work has gone into getting to this point. Every single night after work. Every Saturday and Sunday. All the hours spent researching things and figuring things out. All the trips to the big box stores. Can’t imagine how much money we saved by doing everything ourselves.

With that being said, I’ll never do this again. Lol.

Thank you all again for following along.
