I haven't seen these for a couple of years and all of a sudden, I've had three in two weeks. Isn't it funny how the times of low deflection have changed construction styles....

I'm guessing several racks have been ran with shafts just like that, and some major events won. But nevertheless, cues have advanced quite a bit.

I just made a new/ replacement shaft for one of those a couple weeks ago. Works good hits solid.:)

What's it off of? It's the wrong material, pin and pitch for the old Brunswich's.

Not sure, but I seem to recall some Viking cues having metal tenons like that.
Believe it or not, metal tenons have their place. I don't think I'd ever put one on a playing cue though. :D

Man, did I screw up. At first I thought it was the joint end of a shaft where the pin was in the shaft instead of the butt. MY BAD.

Strange Ryan, I just replaced a ferrule for a guy last week off of a Viking just like that. I couldn't figure out what pitch the thread was. I did notice though that one of the old Palmer ferrules that Lee sells screws on to it. I could have used that to replace if I board it out for the tennon. In the end I just drilled out the old tennon and replaced. Then threaded new tennon and glued on an LBM. Well now I know it wasn't just a bad repair job.

thanks, jim.

Funny you should mention that

I just got done repairing an old Viking yesterday. Same thing have not seen one in the shop for a while except the one I keep for my personal collection.

I have a set of thread pitch gauges. It does metric and TPI.Not cheap but are often usefull.

I have a couple of old 1st catalog Palmers with screw on ferrules, and 2 Frank Paradise cues with the same set up. One of the Frank Paradise cues I picked up from Robert Pozner here on AZbilliards. It's a one owner old Titlist with the silk black wrap. It actually plays pretty darn good!

I've done only one Viking ferrule job, and I beleive it was a 10x24 thread with a shoulder. I could be wrong, it was a couple of years ago.

Viking Threads were mostly 8-32 thread. Some earlier were were either 10-24 or 10-32. But those with the short wood tenon like pictured gave less trouble and were 8-32 if memory serves me right.
