My Lee Brett lesson experience

For what it's worth, if ever I were to sign up for a lesson, I'd only do it with a 'player'. That's just my preference.

I'm not sure what you were trying to say in the blue text above but if you don't think Coach Lee Brett is a "player", then you might want to try him some for a hundred quid a set by gambling with him. :wink: Since you are a homie of sorts, I'll just warn you in advance, you aren't going to "like it".

No, I was agreeing with Frank's decision to take lesson's from one that IS a player. If I were to ever take a pool lesson I would only take one from a current or former player. I've been on AZB since June 2012 & the only thing I have gotten that I can take to the table to improve my game has come from CJ Wiley & Fran Crimi. Mr. Shuffett's CTE is on a shelf for now.

I have your DVD "The Secret Art of Pool". I really enjoy your style of teaching. You do not mess around. I guess that is the English coming out.

If you think Lee Brett isn't a player, you're crazy! He's not only a player, but an excellent instructor. If you get the opportunity, spend some time with him...it was well worth it.

So who do you think the "players" are that give lessons. I would be interested in knowing who you think are the worthy teachers.

Myself I have had a phone lesson with Hal Houl. Hands on lessons with Ray Martin, Jerry Brieseth, Mark Wilson, Scott Lee, Stan Shuffett, Lee Brett, Gene Albrecht, Jeanette Lee, Brian Gregg, George Breedlove. Short lessons from Danny D and Grady. Everyone of these people can play. If we had a tourney one of them would win the rest would loose, it might be a different one the next time. I doubt that any of them were playing at there top competitive speed when I got my lesson as they were in teaching mode. The focus at all of my lessons were lets get Dana to playing better not lets prove the teacher is a player.

So who do you think is a player that would be a good teacher? If it is someone not on this list I will probably look them up and get some of their time if I agree with you. I think I got my moneys worth out of each and everyone of the above player/teachers. They can all play.

This sounds like bait for an arguement. I did not recommed anyone & I said IF... as I probably will never will take a lesson from anyone. But...If I did I would want them from a player's perpective & not a 'range instuctor' so to speak. No offense meant to any instuctor(s). It is just that I have been playing, including with english, for 46 years & am fairly set in my fundamentals. I hope you & all understand where I am coming from.

Buff's is doing fine although I did peek in at CP last night to watch Cliff and Richie playing each other.

Yeah, you see, that's the problem. You help so many, but I have not been able to hook up with you, the originator, of the Lock Society's Moto, FREE HELP.

I got to get back over to Buf's. I will. Maybe for the St. Patrick's Day Parade if not before.

My game is in a bit of turmoil right now as I'm waiting for my individual money league to run out so I can give CJ's TOI a full undivided 3 to 4 weeks. He is totally correct when he said that it will drive you crazy if you go back & forth between it & spin without the TOI being the predominant shot.

No I am not much of an arguing guy it actually drives me off the site. What I am looking do is to learn when someone has something to offer and can help me gain that skill as you see I have mixed up my training quite a bit trying to learn from all who I find worth the time and expense. I actually learn via lessons or when I help others even though I am no where near to a certified instructor I can find value for my game by taking the time to help another player. So if you had a player or players who you thought would be a good teacher I would consider trying that myself, good luck with your game it sounds like you have it under control.
