"Cool Hand Luke" is quite possibly my favorite film of all time, right up there with "On The Waterfront". I've always wondered if I was I reading in to it, but I thought Luke was constantly being shown as a Christ symbol.

Also two of my favorites. Newman is great. But, damn, Brando was the man in his day. IMO his performance in "On The Waterfront" might be the greatest film performance ever. And, yes, I agree that Newman is shown as a Christ like figure in some scenes- especially lying on the table after eating the eggs.catscradle said:

But, who can forget that satisfied triumphet goofy smile on Paul Newman's face when he was done eating the 50th egg? That was priceless ....
