I got my cue from Al though the cue was really nice, i must admit my huge dissapointment on the shaft that came along with it though. According to his post in bilyar.net ( a very famous philippine billiard website ) all his cues comes with an 1AL1 shaft and thats one of my main reason to even consider getting one of his cues to begin with! Surprisingly my cue shaft did not!! it only came with a standard shaft to my dismay. I had this ordered thru a local friend of mine in the Phils. who's not too familiar with his cues and thats probably the reason why he overlooked this concern of mine. I had my contact come to his shop in Caloocan Phils. last Tuesday March 15 to check out some of his work, Al showed him 3 cues that just needed some finishing touches Al himself admitted that those sticks were already sold to his US customers but have not given any downpayment yet. Al told my contact that he is willing to sell any of those 3 sticks if my contact was willing to pay the price. My contact immediately informed me to get my approval on the price we agreed on the price AL was putting on the said cue. My contact then informed him that he would be going back to the U.S. in a week but Al insisted that he will be able to finish the work by Sunday. After 5 days my contact came back paid him in full and recieve the cue from him ( even had to pay for the cue case which is fine ,though some wouldnt mind throwing a free one with a considerable amount of purchase we just made ; ) That being said, I was just hoping that Al Baustista would be fair and honest enough to give my contact the same quality cues he's been known for regardless if the person buying from him is not really fully aware of the specifications that is standard from his work, afterall thats one vital factor of professionalism that solidifies a Cuemaker's credibility. Instead he included a REGULAR shaft, so unfortunately i really wouldnt be able to give him a fair review about his cue ( how it hits, the balance and playability ) because the shaft that he included is a standard low quality shaft to begin with. Just my 2 cents folks!!
Hello NYshooter,
I wake up good this morning and my way to the shop when my son told me this, reading to your post, seems you already made a court here and give a final judgement without knowing or contacting your primary proponents. For you to know the whole story, its my first time to encounter this kind of situation and you just post without asking or consulting me or just even pm, let me tell you my friend the whole story, Your contact ( i believe his name was Phil) came to my home address, searching my name, without any contact from me, in good luck he talked my son and bring him to my shop, Lot of conversations happen, i even show to him all my progress cue, educate all the info that he needed about cues because on my observation, he has no info or knowledge about cues and i just want to help him, he also takes some photos of the cues on my shop, he said to me that he has a cousin, who is working in NY that loves to play billiards. The next day, he texted me a lot, maybe he already show the picture to you, about the cue that he wanted to buy, and i ask him about his budget, to tell you honestly my friend, his offer was not really reasonable for the cue he wanted, but he still texted me and even call me at midnight, that he really want to get that cue, and insisted to have an extra shaft on that price :yikes:since we are "Kababayan" a fellow pinoy. Ok, since we are kababayan and made some effort to come here, i will give that cue but with only 1 shaft. He agreed, and he wants to get it as soon as possible because the courier will back to U.S. in just a week.:yikes: ok. i will try my best but will not a promise, because the cue was not made intended for you. But still has no owner, But still forcing me finish it for him, i dont know why? maybe because he has a cut on the deal or whatever. Then, i finish the cue that was sunday, sacrificing lots of order works. And then your contact get the cue and said " If i will buying a cue again, i want the price is the same on this one".
Now to the cue, seems your contact has mis informed you, because you posted that it has an ivory tulip, Ivory? My God! given to his budget. Tsk, tsk, before he gets the cue, i tell him the whole specs of it, infact, he bring the cue outside for about 20 to 30 mins. and i dont know where he bring it. it has no ivory maybe he just tell it to you to motivate you. The cue has 12 points tulipwood, my first 12 points i made in my whole life, brown sea snake skin wrap, tulipwood buttsleeve. As for the shafts, This is why it is important to contact the maker first before you say anything else, How can you say that the shaft is not an LD shaft? Did you try to x-ray it?
The Shaft on that cue is an LD shaft, my 1al1 shaft. Remember that, not all my shafts has markings, and i am the one who can say if its 1al1 or not.
If you have still doubt on it, then try to bring it to the Radiology department.
And also my friend, since you already talk about Credibility, i have decided that if your not happy with the cue, send it back to me and i am happy to give you the amount that your contact paid for it. Just to make it all clear. And sorry for all inconvenience. Learn a lot of lesson here when it comes to "Contact Person"
More powers to all,
Al
