Just got an email from Chris Hightower that my inlay machine is on its way !! If you haven't dealt with Chris before he is one of the best.

I'm anxiously awaiting its arrival tomm, my next set of 5 cues will definitely be inlayed. Now I have another facet of cue building to learn and add to my cues.

Thanks again Chris.

Congratulations and have fun. Chris's pantograph is on my wish list so until then, I will stick to conversions and Widows.
I love notched diamonds. All my cues will have them. Them and boxes too.
Be careful with the outlays tho, I hear they can be tricky.

Thanks, I am going to buy some straight grain maple and taper it down, and use it as my guinea pig. Not going to blow up a $900 cue lol. And I too like notched diamonds.

I've had mine for a while now and still don't have anything ready for inlays. I'm so tired of just looking at it. I will be using some old pine 2x4s to practice on first. My mind is reeling with different inlay shapes to make. Ever been to Claire's Boutique? I went there with my girlfriend and her daughter today. It was a drag being in a girlie store until I started seeing different patterns. Funny how many neat designs you see in ear rings.

This reminds me of my my early days when I went into a home improvement store and bought just about every fancy drawer hinge and latch plate they had. They made some really nice designs then. I scratched them into plexiglass and made rough patterns off of them, modified them a little and put the shapes in cues. Inspiration can come from anywhere. I saw a neck tie the other day that I think would make a great looking cue. I probably should have been thinking more about the sermon than the preachers tie. :)
