:cool:Snagged this one off ebay for a great price, I think the seller didn't list it very well I was buried in the lists lol, what do you guys think?

Beautiful Paul Drexler - PFD Studios cue made from a John Davis full splice ebony blank. This is truly a one of a kind cue. Veneers are black, red, black, maple. Radial pin, thinwall stainless joint over phenolic. The cue has a black kangaroo leather wrap and the butt sleeve has a unique Black Lip mother of pearl wedge with matching veneers. Black Lip MOP is rare and very expensive and extremely beautiful. On the other side of butt sleeve a nice oval w/pfd logo scrimshawed into it. The logo panel and ferrules are natural pachyderm material. The butt weights 14.9 oz. Because it's a Davis blank (made with his unique construction method) it has wonderful balance and is much lighter than a normal ebony full splice cue would be, and was the first cue Paul made with a John Davis blank.

Two 13mm, 29" shafts included. Shaft #1 (black pad) is almost new, 3.8 oz. Paul made it for me this spring. It has a unique carbon fiber core that he said is about 1/8" diameter and runs from the tip to near the joint. Shaft #2 (red pad) has seen more use and weighs 4.3 oz. Both are super premium shafts, both have Talisman medium tips. The cue weighs 18.7 or 19.2 ounces depending on which shaft is used

that's outrageous, may you have many years of billiards ahead!
The AZ cue builders speak of gun stock oil very often, I understand it takes a bit of practice and needs to set, cure, harden and then be polished, But the finish is uncomparable (just a thought)

I got it to hold on to for a while more like a collector cue instead of a player since I'm a stone cold weinstock man or DPK, but I'm sooo interested in how it plays, i figured it should hit pretty good with that ebony davis blank. Got one or two dings on it, so Ill probably get it refinished at proficient.

I wouldnt

I would leave it as it buddy...if you really want to restore it get it refinished by Paul...but me personally I would play with it and even or leave it as is

thanks for the advice partner I just emailed paul about it, how would you describe the hit of a PFD itself and compared to other makers?

Nice Cue

A little more info on this cue from the original owner here.

This was in fact the very first Davis blank cue Paul did. I bought the blank directly from John and took it to Paul to have it finished off. The veneers around the MOP were also glue up for me by Davis and sent with the blank. He sent me a couple different variations as I had many ideas for ringwork and such. Everything else stated on eBay is correct, black lip MOP, kangaroo leather, ivory etc. Not sure about the carbon fiber in the shaft. I sold it with 1 standard shaft only. May want to ask Paul about that second one.

Cue plays great as far as I'm concerned. Don't know where your hand falls, but the wedge presented no problem at all for me.

Regardless of who you have do it, I'd love to see this cue refinished. I saw it on eBay and almost bought it just to get it returned to perfect condition.

Paul is a good friend of mine and I've probably driven him crazy with some of my requests including the wedge. He has done very few of them with the actual bevel on the buttlseeve, this may even be the only one. I know he's done some without the bevel but can't recall if there are others with it. I am all but certain this is the only black lip MOP wedge he's done.

I think you'll like it a lot when you take it out put some balls in the hole with it.

I love wedge cues and this one is a beauty. If you ever have a thought of letting it go, please shoot me a PM. I love it.
