My New (to me) Brunswick Gold Crown Table

Yes, one of the casters has the date of 2/22/63 inscribed on it.

The pockets are 4 3/8".

It is the original (white) paint scheme from the factory...I didn't want to repaint it...I thought the nicks and dings gave it character. It does have additional (white) plastic skirts for it, but I chose not to put them on at this point.

Isn't that weird? I think it's only on the 63' models. Anyone else have the scribbled dates?

scribbled dates

Mine has the same thing, from around March 1963. All of the pockets are within a few days of each other, except one- which is two weeks off. Did you notice that the scribbles are in "relief" and stick up rather than being scratched into the metal? Mine was. It must have been written into the disposable cast mold?!?

I left the dents and dings in mine as well.

The foundryman had to scratch the date into the mold before the casting was poured. He had to write backward which is why the penmanship is not the best. I would swear that the foundry mark on that casting in atthecat's photo is from General Motors Central Foundry Division. It seems odd that they would have been producing castings for Brunswick.

One of my friend told me about a company who manufacture billiards table. I also bought it from there and the result is satisfactory. Hope this helps in future!

I bought a 1963 Brunswick Gold Crown I table back in January and have been working steadily over the past 2 months getting the room re-done and getting the table setup.

I took some pictures (iPhone) of the process from beginning to end, so I thought I'd share them...

Here's the details of what I put into it:

Re-painted the room
Re-carpeted the room
New pool table light
New Delta-13 rack with leather quieting inserts
New Super Aramith Billiard Balls
New Rubber and pocket facings for the table
New Simonis 860 Cloth

We used several machinist levels to get it as level as possible. It plays like a dream! I waited 15 years to get my own table and finally have one...

Beautiful table and set up. Wish i could have redone my room prior to getting table.
