My public apology to Fast Larry-long

This will more than likely be my last post for awile because I have to pack the rest of my stuff and be out of here by this weekend with my dogs because we are moving and only have about two weeks to get ready for the painters. I will be in my home town until our place is closed on and Ray and the realator put the contract and close on the new house we will be moving into. The realator told us that the dogs cannot be here while it is showing because lots of people are afraid of dogs and it would delay the sale of the condo.

When I posted yesterday about things I did not like, I have realized, that considering that FL and I have been friends, at least some of these comments were uncalled for and inappropriate to put on a public forum. Although I did edit that post, people including FL had already read the original.

I have gotten a lot of criticism for being his friend and jibbed at, and could never speak freely, this pressure had gotten to me over the months, and guess I sort of blew up without any regard for the consequences or who my comments might hurt. If Larry and I were not friends, it would not be so bad, but considering that we have been friends, my original post was mean spirited.

Please, if anyone likes me or respects me at all, do not use this thread as another opportunity to bash Larry. This is meant as an apology only considering the original thread I wrote.

So here is the story. When Larry was first on CCB, we struck up a friendship. First we talked about his records and such, which he sent me tapes and his shots on those tapes were remarkable to say the least.I also saw wonder dog on animal planet making balls. Then we found other things in common such as our beliefs about certain things and had many interesting conversations about those things.

He also gave me some tips on the phone. We were at that time talking on the phone a lot, so I cannot count all of things he told me, especially about the mental aspects. He also encouraged me, more than anyone else to play naturally and by feel and to let my stroke out.

On the way back from valley forge, he stayed at my house. Lots of it was just entertaining and having fun, so by the time he started working with me, it was rather late. I had been sick and was leaning against the wall in fatigue, so I could not take in all that he told me at least on a conscious level. In fact, some of it, Ray reminded me about things Larry taught me.

The next morning, Larry stayed over extra hours so that we could tape his draw and a special type of follow shot. We have that on tape. This resulted in Larry leaving late and arriving in Atlanta after midnight.

The book is for real. At one time we were working on that together because I have some writing skills and Larry knew the pool stuff so I know what is in it. We had a disaggreement over things and so I stopped my part, and he continued writing it on his own. All that I can say about the book is that it has some very good stuff in it, and when it is published will be a good edition to anyone's pool library.

I also know the dvds are for real and that is because he told me what was going on them, and details, including how that project was progressing.

In the last few months, we have not talked as much, partly because he is busy. He was in the east for several weeks or so and must have been well received because someone over there wanted him to get a trick shot competition together, err his listing of the competitors.

I knew that he was a house pro in a pool hall(s) because he told me all of those details, and more than once had to get off the phone to teach a lesson.

Just from our conversations and from the time he was in our home, I know that he is a good instuctor and has some good techniques.

I did not mention him on the instuctor thread because the person who posted lived in California and I was not aware of Larry going to that area anytime soon, whereas someone knew that Scott would be in the area soon.

Well that is about it. I should have written any complaints I had to him in private instead of putting it on the forum, but once things are on the forum, you cannot take them back. So since I wrote those things on a public forum, I am posting these amends publically too. Larry and I may never be friends again, but doing this post is all that is in my power to do.

Again I ask that nobody bash Larry on this tread, because then I would have to keep coming on here and defend his trade and livelihood, once I am at home and have access to the internet. And I really do not want to be put in that position.

Hope you all have a great day and I am getting off of here because I have to get packing.

I'm glad you have posted these comments. You have confirmed for everyone on this forum that FL is indeed for real and knows of what he speaks.

Laura,

I think that was your best post ever on either board. You would be a good friend to have.

Thanks everyone for your comments. Yes he is for real. There is lots more he knows about relating to pool but it would fill too many pages, things which we found out about when he was here. Lots of the stuff he talked to us about and showed us was more understood by my APA7 hubbie, but it was evident even to me the extensive research he had done into many things related to pool, equipment, etc.

It looks again like our plans have changed and i will not be leaving for home this weekend afterall, so may be on here a little:)

Congratulations on your self discovery. My hope for you is that you continue in this vein.
