My recent thoughts about the IPT

We do actually have quite a few strong players in my neck of the wods. On any given day, the player field at one of these mini tourneys consist of: local one-pocket legend Tom-Tom Wirth, Roadster Danny Green, Young Gun Brandon Shuff, Power Breaker Jerry Slivka, Ryan "Genie Man" McCreesh, BCA Instructor Doug Sharp, Jersey John (who beat Keith last Wednesday first round), White Max, Black Henry, Spanish Rob, Parks, just to name a few. There are players of all caliber, but make no mistake about it, some of the local natives can play themselves some pool.

When the mini tournament has over 20 players, they make it a race to 5 for the first round. This is a deadly format for even the best of players. That is what makes the mini tournaments fun. The "experienced" players don't necessarily always win, and when they do get beat, their opponents have usually played very hard. It is this kind of pressure or tension, if you will, that sometimes is an excellent way to improve your game.

You should see the expression on Keith's mug after he goes down in a short race to 5, especially in the first round. Keith's mouth wrinkles up and looks like he just swallowed a lemon peel, much like the picture below. LOL :D
