My Sugartree on its way

GoTulane

Shizzle-rific
Let me just say, Eric is a great guy to deal with. Just sending email back and forth, but he is always responsive, and quick with it too. I have a sneaky by him headed my way this week and I can't wait to take it to the pool hall and hit with it. It is an old sneaky made from an ancient house cue. It is mahogany into wormy maple with a birdseye maple buttsleeve. Brown phenolic collars with thin black accent rings. Weighs 19oz & has Eric's old standard 3/8-10 bullet nose joint pin. Basically, it got a complete overhaul & will be brand new again with a new shaft and refinish this past week. Looks very nice for a sneaky, and I just can't wait. Here are pics below.

Let me know what you think.

If these play half as well as everyone says they do, it'll ruin you for any other cue. ;) :) Congrats on the new cue, Michael....you'll have to give us a review once you've had a chance to take it for a spin. :D

The review will be coming soon!!!

Well, UPS will deliver the cue on Wednesday, and I play league, so I will hopefully have a review of the cue soon. I just can't wait, I was lucky to be in the right place at the right time to get this cue. getting it from the man himself, straight from refinish and new shaft.

thanks Eric!!!!

Is a cue like this really that hard to get? If so why would this type of cue be so hard to get. I have heard lots of good things about these cues yet I have never seen one in person or know anyone that has ever seen or hit with one.
Please explain all of the hype. How do these cues hit that make them seem so hot right now.

Yes.
One man shop and has a ton of backlog.
Man knows wood and cue assembly.

I am lucky

Kevin - Yes, Eric does the work himself, and he has plenty of buyers due to his being "hot". Supply is low, and demand is high. From what I have heard, the cues hit great, nice and stiff, and his use and knowledge of wood and wood combinations really make his cues beautiful in look and in play. Also, he is just a great guy and loves his craft, and that always shines through in the end product. You get what you pay for plus much more, and the quality is there in service, product, and knowledge. So that would be why he is "hot", and should continue to stay that way.

Joey, Of course, I would also like to try one of your cues also, because from what examples I have seen, they also show that great beauty based on the true characteristics of the wood being crafted. I know you are busy, but I do not mind waiting. Got lucky on this one (no 5 year wait), so karma dictates that one from you will take much longer. But "right place, Right Time" might come true again. Lightning can strike twice.

Let you all know how it hits when I get it.

These are the reasons that I personaly like his cues.

Playability is number one reason and beauty of the woods chosen comes a close second.

But it is the shaftwood selection is what sucked me into his cues. Take a look at the shaftwood and you will know one of the reasons his cues hit so well and react like they do. He goes the extra 10 miles to hand select all his maple boards and even cuts his own old growth maple trees down, kiln dries, and dowells them himself. The care he takes in shaftwood selection really shows in the playability of the cues. Good stiff hit.

The other reason why I like the cues is because he openly shares his cue/wood knowledge with everyone. For me this was a big thing because I myself love to work with woods.

As for being hard to get, one of the reasons is because people who buy them tend to keep them. Secondary market ones are usualy snatched up pretty qucikly even in this slower market. But I, like you, have never seen one in person or hit with one before buying one and had to "bite the bullet" to try one out and I never looked back since. For that reason, I let anyone at the poolhall try it out if they ask for a few racks whenever I go out to play. Got more than one offer on it because of that.

But those are my personal reasons for paying a premium for these cues.

I Got it!!!

Got the cue - WOW!!!! Yes, the pictures did not do the wood any justice. The sneaky point wood is just full of character, as well as the birdseye maple. In person it is amazing. It might be considered sneaky, if you are blind, because it is just beautiful and doesn't look like any SNEAKY I have seen before. Gonna bring it to league and let my teamates drool over it.

I want to thank Eric again and I appreciate his time.

The work is great. If it hits half as well as it looks, it is gonna be dangerous. I suggest everybody check out eric's cues, they are beautiful. Be back later with a review of its hit.

Michael

you will be very happy, his cues play GREAT. in my opinion of all the new cue makers 10 years or less his cues play the best.

Wow!!

Well, I shot with it for a few racks last night, and this cue is stiff. It hits great, but it is going to take me a while to get used to the Shaft taper and tip diameter. Just gonna take time to get used to it, because it is one fine cue. Could never confuse it with a sneaky or house cue. The wood is just great. Now I know why Eric is so sought after, and why it isn't cheap or easy to get one of his players. If you get the chance, you must try one of his cues.
