My White Ball Problem

I don't use the phenolic tip at home, though I did a while back... Not noticed correlation between the marks from th 2, but it could be possible, I guess.

That said, I also have a red circle tha I used about half the time and in a similar fashion, it does not hold chalk like the meezil.

I am very frustrated with my measles ball. It shows chalk stains far too much, IMO. None of the pool rooms I go to seem to have balls that hold chalk like this and I am 99% sure that it is a legitimate aramith product.

I clean it in a polisher, meguiars or aramith polisher or nothing, each about 1/3 frequency.

Any secrets to lessen the blue dotting or even eliminate it?

Black-Balled angry and white ball with blue spots.

Here is a pic of the offender after polishing and about 5 shots:

First of all that ball looks old. Suggest you measure it. Saluc says their heat treat leaves a vitrified surface. I take that to mean its case hardened. You may have worn past that original surface leaving a slightly softer surface.

Second I've noticed some waxes increase static electricity or cling. You need to go after it with the Aramith Restorer or a product used to restore headlight lenses. Polishing Compound will also work. NOT Rubbing Compound. Its too aggressive. Then come back with the Aramith Cleaner to finish the job.

I use Restorer every time after I play on a public table with my set. Actually my set never sees a public table. They're too abrasive with all the chalk embedded in the cloth.

Meh, that ball isn't what I would call old. Perhaps 6 yrs of home use...I would estimate only an hour or so of average weekly use.

Certainly far less mileage than the average pool room ball.

OK, the ball looks like it has small cracks and why I thought it was well used. Maybe those are small hairs? You have a cat?

When I played 3C everyday with an ex champ, he would buy a new set at least once a year. Those balls saw about 3-4 times mileage/yr than yours but still under your total. He cleaned the set using a buffing wheel. They came out real nice but I'm sure it contributed to a faster loss in diameter.

Still say try my restore suggestion. Something a little more aggressive than Aramith Cleaner then come back for the finishing touch.

Maybe I can find an old beat up ball and show you the before and after.
