You can read that it says, Union Billiard Academy.
If you search for Union Billiard Academy, there is an article that says it was located on Broadway at 45th St.

No its not 45th street, im looking at the picture and the builiding in the middle is on the same spot where they drop the ball on new years eve. Its definetly on the corner of 42nd and bway . I used to be around that area an awful lot, my uncle had a poker game on 45th and 8th ave, what a war zone that place was in the 70,s and 80,s lol.

Speaking of that area, i used to go into a dump on 51st and Bway and it was a pool hall under an arcade, what a toilet this place.

So I think we have it now. I DO see what looks like it could very well be what RayBell says is painted in the upstairs windows near their top.
I was gonna say Doyles because it was a 42nd st address.
Back then there were alot of rooms !

btw what a great picture of times square huh .

Thank you for the detective work!

Here is another previous thread with more information on this mystery pool hall. The address is 1540 Broadway, and the shot is from the north facing south.

Contrary to some rumours, this pool hall did not shut down because business dwindled after the action players left for Steinway. :D It closed to make way for a Packard Motorcar dealership

The address of the building is 1540 Broadway. Easily found by looking at ads for the Packard dealer that was there until 1907. If you check the map for 1540 Broadway, it is certainly right near 45th St...
