Name this table part 2:)

Get the Gandy

I'd say the first is an old Brunswick Contender model with great slate combined with vinyl covered pressboard rails, blinds and legs. Not built for the long haul. Not sure of the model Gandy either, but if it doesn't have the pressboard it'll be better for you......

Yes that Gandy Big G is a more solid table than the last Gandy you looked at, it is the commercial model. But they have it overpriced by a lot in this market. I don't know the model of that Brunswick but it looks like a 9 footer in the pic and not an 8 footer, might be worth a look.

I'd go with the Big G , I used to play on them at Red's in Houston ... Good tables or get a GC3 ...Gold Crown if you find any ...

thats the one big drawback to the Gandy is its an 8 footer and i would really like a 9 there is a guy selling and gold crown 1 9 footer but he wants 2500 and i needs new felt and i would think rails too

If that Big G is only an 8 footer than he has REALLY overpriced it. Its maybe worth 6 or 7 hundred at best, you can find the 9 foot Big G under a grand easily, be patient and something will come along.

If you go with an 8 footer you may want to check this one out too, after a fast search I saw this Olhausen http://austin.craigslist.org/spo/710366171.html .

A Gold Crown 1 price depends on it's condition I buy all GC from $500-1500 after fixing them up they go for $2500+ depending on model and finish.

If its a gc1 most dont have adjustable levelers. By looking at the blind rails it's a gc1 or gc2 I can see the pockets hanging down. I dont recall any gc1or 2's with black rail tops they my be Gc3 rails or old rails recovered with black formica or painted, if the corner castings are thin like paper pot metal then it has gold crown 3 castings. If the castings are thick then they are original castings most will also have a date on them.

Most of the parts should have a 3 letter code like jhk or cfw these tyoe of codes you can call Brunswick and they can tell you when the table was built. All the parts should have the same code if not it's been pieced to gether maybe from a pool hall at one time or sometimes parts break or get replaced for better looking parts, it's not bad just some people want it matching.

This table probaly wont last long so if its cheap snag it fast.
