Names you thought should have been on IPT list

I thought it would be interesting to put out the question of who you thought should have been on that list. I think it is valid not to only pick based on playing ability, but also personality and the IPT's ability to market these people. We all don't exactly know what his marketing strategy is yet, and how he is going to make this successful where other tours have failed. It is obvious he did use some other judging criteria other than just ability.

I want to know where the heck Billy Jay Trotter is
That man and his cuetech would certainly spear his way to the top.

I heard that Cuetec paid Kevin the full first purse NOT to accept BJT's application....something about embarassement for the company.

I've always made it a point not to answer posts that asks who your fav player is or anything close to that because I've got some good friends in the pool world & I can't/won't pick & choose one over the other. I will say that there's a few names on the list that surprised me, & there's some that I think could've been on the list that weren't. If we knew who did & didn't apply, then it would be easier to 2nd guess the decision. Playing armchair quaterback w/out a play book, I'm going to mention Ronnie Wiseman, Chris Szuter, Tony Crosby, Craig Riley, Joey Korsiak, Danny Harriman, Scott Frost, Brandon Ashcraft... the list goes on & on as there are a ton of great players out there. The above mentioned are just the tip of the iceburg when it comes to picking people that I feel should/could be on the list. I'm not going to name the people that I think don't belong there... as with any list, it's a matter of personal preference & the IPT has made their choices for their own reasons. I will however congratulate all that are on the list and wish them all the best this first season. For those that did apply & didn't get in, I think your time will come next season. There's too many great players out there that aren't on the list.... should this work out, there will be plenty more players to enter stage right as those that don't cut it will exit stage left.

The good news in all this..It looks like there is going to be no shortage of players waiting to fill in the spots of the roasted marshmellows.....

I guess if we have waited this long for a real money tour......we can hopefully wait one more year......

I can't help but think that Ronnie Wiseman, Brandon Ashcraft, Jason Kirkwood, Jesse Bowman, Jimmy Mendosa, and a slew of others won't be waiting for some of the softer 150 to bet their winnings in the back room. Hell I wouldn't be suprised if they went after some of the tougher nuts to crack for the cash.

Bring the BANKROLL and bet it up

Forget all these so-called legends of 9-Ball that I've never heard of. You want to see Chris Melling. He finds 9-Ball easy as pie and he's won WEPF World 8-Ball twice. He's one of the quickest 8-Ball players and has the best (looking) cue action.

THX guys

Hey Rude Dog and Snake, thx for the compliments. Too bad me and my dad had to play at HT. He felt pretty bad (got no sleep) so he let me escape with a forfeit. Thank god because he probably still would have ran out like crazy. Snake, Lorry beat morro in the finals. I lost to Lorry for 3rd. I beat Arturo after he beat Max E. I also beat Francisco. So, 1st Lorry 2nd Morro 3rd MexPoolPlyr 4th Arturo 5-6 Max E, Francisco 7-8 Fach and I think Riverside Alex 9-12 Marcos and several others

Looks like you weren't the only "MexPoolPlyr" there. ;)

Baraks?

i dont know if anyone has mentioned him but what about James Baraks? i know around the mid west there is not anyone who has been beating him consistently the past year and a half?

My thoughts

I think they had guidelines for selection, and one of
those guidelines was 'Marketability'. Second tier players
aren't that Marketable. They wanted recognizable names,
and they wanted a good representation from foreign countries.
Think of being on TV, and the announcer talking about the
players, great players past and present from our country,
and great players from a foreign country. I think they had
other guidelines too, but I think 'Marketability' is one of them.

Without a doubt, yet another name that could've been on the list....

I think what we'd all been hoping for is a list of worthy elite players having a nice international flavor. As far as I'm concerned, that's what we got, so I'm going to say nice job to the IPT. Inclusion of all the Hall-of-Famers is, in my opinion, fantastic, and the inclusion of this many women is wonderful.

This should be a great event!

I wouldn't mind seeing some of the top Asian players on the list,

Chao, Wu, Kuo, Kang, Hsia, Park, Jeong, Kawabata, to name a few.

But I don't know if any of them applied in the first place? It would be nice to see Alex P on the list but I imagine he never applied or he would have surely been accepted.

Wow Craig, I'm truly flattered that you think I should be on the tour but I know I wouldn't stand a chance against any of the players that made the tour :D

First of all, I would like to congratulate for the players that did make the IPT Player List.., especially the players that I have often seen who compete here in the Northeast like Danny Basavich, Karen Corr, Mike Davis, Dennis Hatch, Allen Hopkins, Steve Lipsky, Keith McCready, Tony Robles, Santos Sambajon and George "Ginky" Sansouci.

Someone said that the IPT had over 3,000 applications and they could only choose 150 players but I must ask this question;

Why did Mike Zuglan not make it onto this list?.., and yes, I know for a fact that he did apply!

Here is a guy that has been playing world class pool since he stated playing in tourneys as a teenager in the mid 70's.., he had three Eastern States Open wins in four years.., a second place showing at the 1982 U.S. Open and he has pretty much dominated the tournament scene here in New England for the past two decades.

I have seen a lot of top players come to tournaments held here in New England that may have been thinking they were going to come up here and steal only to be sent home with their tail between their legs because they ran into Mike Zuglan.., These days, Mike's pool room and the Joss Northeast 9 Ball Tour keeps him busy but he still competes in (and directs ) 20 to 25 events a year.

Was it politics??.., maybe.., it's been said that Zuglan would make a lousy politician.., I just wish the IPT would ask any player on that list that knows Zuglan if he or she thinks that Mike should be on it.

I know Mike was looking forward to participating in these IPT events (on that slow nap cloth) and I'm sure he must be disappointed (like many other deserving players) but he's been kicked in the stomach before so.....

Mike rarely enters anything other than his own events. How many US Opens has he played in in the last 10 years?
He hasnt really shown much desire to compete imho.

Maybe that is it but more likely there is a history with Mike and Mike from the straight pool days.
