National cue age?

Here is where someone partially peeled away the "Made in Taiwan" sticker. But you can see it well enough. Intentional?
Same logo as the OP cue. Same maker, I promise.

This is a beauty of an HC-150 that was sent to me for identification.

Original National Brochure....
JV
I believe the HC-150 Gandy had the vinyl veneers while the National had wood veneers. I have two Gandy HC-150 cues, one gold, one blue, both with vinyl veneers. Of course, I could be wrong but that is what I have believed so far.

What I find interesting is differentiating a Gandy HC-100, HC-110, and HC-120 from the National models of the same designation. I think they are Identical.

I have an HC-110, an HC-120, and an HC-140. At this point they are all in my Gandy collection. I also think any of them could be National.

I am not sure about the HC-140. Is it the deal as the HC-150? Does the Gandy have vinyl veneers while the National has wood? I don't know.

Am I crazy or on track with this?

Maybe my HC-140 made from an ebony Titlist is a National? It was identified by Dick Abbott as a Gandy.

Both companies used the same model designations. I believe the maker was National, Gandy seemed to act more as a distributor. Or did everything change over between the branding about 1970 with all the cues before being National, and all after being Gandy?

The green cue in my post #22 is clearly marked National, and has written on it "135", as in "HC-135" yet is is not in the National flyer we have and is in the Gandy flyer we have.

So it seems to me that at various times it just depended what sticker they put on the cue, they were made at the same place and the same time, at least the era we are talking about. Once the sticker was lost, is there any reliable way to say what name was on the cue when it was sold?

Yes, the HC-150 butt sleeve is different in the two flyers we have, so that's easier. What about the others? And the 135 cue I posted that's in "the wrong flyer"? LOL! I thought that anybody who knew would get a kick out of that.

So, I find this cue is interesting. Aluminum insert. Short pilot is odd. Smooth leather wrap same as some other examples I have. So think it is an HC-115. But it has a different weight bolt that I think was used earlier by National, and I have some evidence of that matter. So, I think it is a National HC-115. But I have no documents that such a cue was ever produced/sold.

I am of the believe that there were variants in the earlier National cues that might be harder to identify, partly because we don't have flyer or catalog examples, and partly because of slight variations in construction. I feel the green 135 I posted earlier helps support that notion as it is labeled National, but not in the National flyer, while it is in the Gandy flyer.

So, this is the suspected National HC-115. Sorry poor pics.
