Whats everyone opinion on the league (ACS BCA APA VNEA) nationals in LV. Is it the lure of LV or the lure of playing nationals ??? If its the tourny .What would you think if it was in another city .If its the gambling what about still another city Tunica or AC there might be more but these just poped in my mind. LV is ok but its gettin exspensive and far away for some and with fuel and the airline charging for everything ? What if mthey moved them from city to city .Say 2 or 3 years in one spot then off to another ?? Or you could put the nationals in an area that the league is dominate (if acs is more east coast than west have it on the east coast )So what dd you think and opinions are welcome Thanks RED

this is just my opinion, but i love it being in Vegas. but i love the heat, and i've made many friends that live there over the years playing in Vegas. but mostly i like the fact that everything i need or want can be walked to easily. if they changed it to another city and the rooms fill up like they do at the Riveria you would find yourself having to commute very long distances. for example we play our apa "cities" only 2 monthes before the Vegas trip so we never get to stay at the Riv when we win (always booked). it's just simple for me to get there and back and have so many things to do when not in play.

BCA and APA nationals are both a blast. I still laugh when I think about the PoolTees.com sponsored Fat Guy Wet T-Shirt Contest. BCA and APA also seem to be quite a bit "looser" than the VNEA and ACS events. I think the VNEA and ACS guys take it a bit more seriously. It doesn't hurt that its in Vegas either. Too bad they hold it at The Riv every year. Someone needs to seriously take a wrecking ball to that pit of a hotel.

thats also one of my question .when the riv is gone (cant be much longer) where we going to go .most of the other hotels are way exspensive ?

That is exactly why every event is held at the Riv! If the rooms were more expensive, someone else would step up and offer the sanctioning body's a place to play. When John Lewis headed the BCA, they tried an event in the Pocono's. It failed big time. Ask Eydie Romano about their Disney disaster. BCAPL tried Louisville for an event. That's cancelled as well. Vegas is THE draw. People that really can't play go because its Vegas, period. Its the fun, the glitz, the gaming, the weather. You fill in the reason.

It's not just pool tournaments taking place in Las Vegas. It's just about every kind of convention you can think of. Las Vegas is convention heaven. They have the rooms, the banquet facilities and within walking distance, trams, cabs and buses, every imagineable form of entertainment is within your grasp. That's the biggest draw for keeping the events in Las Vegas.

Rooms are currently being remodeled at the Riviera. They're nearly done with one of the towers. Don't lift the wrecking ball just yet.

Why not NEW ORLEANS??

Well, I believe the draw is Vegas - people want to go to VEGAS - the mystery, the many places to visit, and many things to do. It is a perfect place to hold the event. But New Orleans is also a pretty nice convention town, with plenty of hotels, a casino with gambling, and plenty of places to go and enjoy yourself. HMMMMM... maybe we could be a alternate location??? Plenty of people would also like to go to New Orleans, just for New Orleans, which is the draw for people wanting to go to Nationals in Vegas. And it wouldn't be bad for me to have a billiards national event in my area every year.
Anybody ever thought of us here down south as a good location?

Just thought I would throw it out there.

Of course I am going to Vegas this year, and the main reason is to get the vacation I haven't had in over 2 years - and APA pool just allowed that for me. But if they were to move it to New Orleans, I wouldn't have any complaints, and I wouldn't think we would be a city with less of a draw to players.
