... For a centerball shot, the exact placement of your bridge hand (and nothing else) determines the line. This simple statement of geometry is incontrovertable. ...
AtLarge:
Well ... maybe. In Spidey Dave's CTE (before Stan's DVD), Dave would (at least sometimes) deform the bridge hand while pivoting, to create an effective pivot point that is behind the bridge.
Mike's statement is correct - you must place (including any deformation) the bridge on the shot line. The stick's tip (at the CB's center) and the point on the stick where it's supported by the bridge (regardless of how it got there) are the two physical points that determine the stick's final position - and the shot line.

No actual "pivot" is performed (except in Spidey's head), so determining the theoretical "pivot point" is meaningless.

what shot angles could be pocketed from the 3 aiming lines on each side of the OB, which is ALL of them from 1 degree to 88 degrees
It's one thing to have believed this 10-15 years ago when the question first popped up on the internet - that was just dense. But to stubbornly hold this belief after all these years of people proving it to be false is wilfully dense. You choose to be dense about this because it's more important to you to defy the "smart guys".

ridiculing of the people who use CTE/Pro One
The usual false accusation. The only people being ridiculed are the ones who combatively (and hilariously) defend their ridiculous fantasies about CTE and wail about being persecuted for their beliefs.

And of course those, like you, who only wail.

I want the last word...:D

Hey Koop, you know what would be hilarious? Let this thread die-down (if it EVER does) and after a couple or three years, put your "I want the last word" post up on it again and watch the feathers fly for yet ANOTHER 200+ posts !!!

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Maniac again.

>I feel responsible for the ridicule and humiliation some of our posters have
>put Hal through.

Hal doesn't just teach the "quarter ball" system, he promotes it and sells it
(maybe for some return other than money, like self-aggrandizement, but who knows
how much money he makes on it?). He doesn't just say, "Here's my idea, take it
or leave it," he uses celebrity endorsements and pseudo-science bamboozlery to
convince people that the system is some kind of poolshooting cure-all. He never
acknowledges that the system may have faults or limitations -- quite the
contrary, he promotes it as a system with which "any shot can be easily made,"
and "the secret that pros don't want you to have."
This is all hucksterism, the same as is used to sell telephone psychics and
instant wealth programs. If he was promoting it on his own cable TV
infomercial, I wouldn't take the trouble to rebut it (though I'd shake my head
in wonder at all those who fall for such nonsense). But it's being promoted
here on RSB/ASP, where lots of people (most of whom we never even hear from)
come to get real information, and I think here it should be shown for what it
is: a pseudo-system that hurts rather than helps your game (because the real
mechanics of accurate shooting are obscured by this method, not illuminated),
and Hal's methods should be shown for what they are: hucksterism and
salesmanship (whether he believes in what he's selling or not, and whether he
makes money or not).

I don't really care that he's 75 years old and likes to drive. If he (or
anybody else) brings it here, he'll have to defend it with something more than
celebrity endorsements and pseudo-science. I think RSB/ASP readers expect and
deserve that.

You proved how little you know about CTE as well as the 3 line aiming systems. They ARE NOT 3 SHOT aiming systems nor are they center ball to the 3 lines as you continuously hold on to.

You proved they're false with misinformation, bogus diagrams, and lies. We proved it works ON THE TABLE. Seems like the "smart guys" are really the "dense" guys but think they're something they aren't.

Funny how you always choose to take the low road and attack someones intelligence, spelling and grammar. All you have is straw man arguments about the things you proved. You didn't prove anything. You didn't even know there was a pivot required.
