A little about Pool Sharks in Las Vegas

This is a sweet room about 5 minutes by car west of the strip. They have about 14 nine foot tables, two of which are Diamond pros. One of the Diamonds is in a lowered pit area with a railing that surrounds it for spectators. It is a real tight table that really makes you focus and stick to the purest of fundamentals.

The room also has one 7' diamond smart table and 4-5 bar boxes. The staff there is wonderful and the players are a mix of area casual players but it is also a players place. Action is not unusual there.

They have a good Monday night handicapped 9-ball tournament that pulls in most of the heavy hitters, so handicapped or not, it's a tough weekly with a $10 entry.

I cannot say enough about the owners, John Kutcher and Joe Cannela. They are both players who love the sport and work diligently to promote it. Recently John started a series of ring games, the first one took place a couple weeks ago, where 7 of us played. We went through 7 rounds, 7 games per round so everyone broke once per round (we re-drew the order after each round). There were some very strong players with five men and two women, myself and Katie Moore. Whoever had the highest points at the end of 49 games won. The entry was $20 and John kicked in I believe $100 or $200...obviously I did not win otherwise my $$ memory would be better :) It was a great way to spend a sunday and yes we played in the pit...tough ring when you have 7 players, really makes you not take being at the table for granted on a whole different level.

Their staff is wonderful! One person in particular goes way back to the old pool days in Detroit and Chicago area...I love talking to him about back in the day 30-40 years ago of the pool action.

It's always nice to hear good things about your room.
We actually have 7 bar tables and 20 9ft tables including 2 Diamonds and a new Gold Crown v.
We also have a tournament on Thursdays also that we add up to $ 100 in each week.
We will be holding a $200 added 8 ball tourny on Jan 3. It's kind of a practice round for the NCS Qualifier on Jan 10
I'm seriously considering adding a calcutta for the NCS qualifier and will post more soon if and when.

NCS Qualifier and TAR in Vegas

TAR will be streaming the NCS Qualifier from Pool Sharks in Las Vegas on Jan 10 & 11. This is our first attempt at streaming and we hope to do more in the future.
If all goes well we I want to stream a $1000 6 man ring game at Pool Sharks the day after the NCS finals at the Golden Nugget. All we need is 6 players with $1000 each, a good upload feed, a couple of advertisers, a few thousand people to watch, and most importantly the patience of a saint by TAR.
Should be some of the countries best in town that week. If your interested in playing you can contact John Kutcher @ Pool Sharks 702-222-1011.

It looks like we're going to be able put three (3) people in the NCS Tournament at the Golden Nugget. If we hit 30 people in the qualifier then I was told we can add another person for a total of three. This shouldn't be a problem as we're at about 18-20 already.

For those of you that read about our $1000 ring game. I've got 3 maybe 4 people that have said they want to play. Obviously all good players but not world beaters so far.

Was out and about in Vegas last night. Ran across a few folks, including out of towners who plan to play, this will be a great tournament. I think the turnout will be such that we will be able to qualifier 3 players at this event for the NCS 8-Ball Championship.

We had 39 players and will be qualifying 4 for the NCS.

The final eight are:

Walter Glass vs. Dan Schnieder ( my grave bartender)
1 Lost side - Oscar Domingues vs. Justin Whithead
Terry Miller vs. Al lawrence
I'm tempted to write 8 or 9 paragraphs about my bad beats or how lucky "they" were but it has been really fun to watch. I got to see some great outs. And I beat Griffin so it was worth it.

Summer my manager thought you were "cute."
A special thanks to Justin Colette for a superb job on the streaming and I hope you enjoyed the conversations with Lou Butera and Mark Griffin. We just missed Ed Kelly. Maybe next time.
