Need 5/16x14 Tap

Home depot or Lowe's would have one. A real tool supplier would have a good one.

5/16-14 at one time was a semi-standard tap but it's bin a number of years. Today I know of no one making or stocking such a tap other than Atlas, Prather and maybe Hightower. 5/16-18 is a standard SAE coarse thread.

They used to have it listed as a "special thread" tap in the Travers catalog, available as a 3 piece set (plug, taper, bottoming). Tommy D.

My mistake. I somehow saw 5/16-18. I'm sorry.

I just got the three inch one from atlas, was a bit surprised that it wasn't a reduced shank like the description said. Couldn't wait to return it, as I needed it, so I just ground it down on my small lathe.

Atlas is the only source I know of.

I too learned the hard way. Now there is only one person on earth
that I will loan tools to. Everyone else has to post.
