Need advice about new cue

I just bought a Dufferin Flame cue off of EBay and it has cracking around the splice. I'm no genius with this stuff, so what should I do? Send it back or is there something I can do to fix it? Thanks!

Thank you guys! I'm going to send it back. It has a wobble in it. Even though the guy said it didn't . I have horrible luck haha. Thanks for the help!!

:sorry: And depending on the seller, you might have to pay to ship it back and a restocking fee.


Sometimes it's just better to get a small refund back instead of wasting money on a cheap cue.

Roll then 'Dice' on the Bay. Common with the old Duff finishes. I would live with that or strip it and oil finish it unless it really bugs you.

Now on the cue not being straight, Shaft / Butt or joint lift when assembled ? If you paid over $75 and its a wobbler I would ask to send it back eat the $15 take your $60 add $60 and But a new, straight Schemlke Sneaky Pete.

yea - it's a crap shoot there. I usually do ok on camera equipment - but with cues I'm only batting about 50%
edit: an yea .. I'm really happy with my Schmelke sneaky. I even ordered a couple of their shafts for other cues ... they make a DAYUM nice shaft.

It does not look that bad to me. You can't expect the finish to be in perfect condition (with no issues) after like over 20 years I am guessing, but it is a Dufferin, so you should not expect it to roll perfectly straight either.

I guess it just depends how much you paid for the cue. If you only paid like $75, then it should not be a big deal, unless there is a seriously bad wobble in the cue. Does the tip leave the table when the cue is rolled, or is it just a taper roll in the shaft? Those sneaky pete butts may have been tapered in a way, that they would not appear to roll straight. Where is the warp located (in the shaft or the butt), and how bad of a roll out is it? They were very cheap production cues, so the cue may have never been perfectly straight. I think those flame cues might be pretty rare, so it may be a mistake sending it back for a refund (depending on how much you paid, and how bad the warp really is). The issues with the finish do not look that bad to me.
