Need Advice on Getting a cue back

I still can't believe the Sheriff took his side, and not yours -- why didn't he ask him for proof of sale then? Just unbelievable. Take it to court.

Btw, I know this is too late for you, but I have my name CNC'ed into the joint -- not because for theft reasons, but simply because I'm so vain.

Write down your name and address and phone number on a piece of paper and then fold it up and place it in the cue under weight bolt, then screw it back in and put the bottom cap back on it.

I do this, it came in handy a few years back on a cue I used to have. I don't do it with my customs but I do take pictures and make copies of the receipts. An ounce of prevention....

Congrats on getting the cue back

Police departments do auctions on stuff that was confiscated all the time. Maybe you ought to inquire about what they're gonna do with those cues and whether you can take'em off their hands for a good price. :D

Tell him you think you know what the cues are worth...THEN... you have to convince him to allow you to resell them...you donate some of the procedes to the Fraternal Order of Police.... offer to photograph them, sell them of fleabay, or whatever... next thing you know, you a cop for a best friend... and a permanent 'get out of jail free' card...

he brings the kid in and points out my cue, even though i have 20 witnesses that say i have that cue with me every week, he still takes it,

Dude...Glad you got it.Really.Sweet.

The above quote would have landed me in jail or not have led to proving it later.Given everything else in the post Ida beat his ass in front of the cop if I felt my cue was gonna leave anyway.Really....
and I make no claims to badass...just how it woulda happened.

Wow...that part is amazing....I would have handled it very poorly given the build up.

Props for the cool head and still shooting with your stuff.

I might still have it,but it would have cost me lol.

Glad it worked out and you got your cue back, but waayyy back I owned a bar. The police would not have taken any cue out without talking to me first. Where was the owner of this place?

Hope those fingers heal OK, I had a few of those accidents back then too.

You can write your name on the butt cap under the bumper with a paint pen. It can always be removed for resale but it would prove ownership in most cases like this. If stolen the thief may find it.

Love a happy ending. I was starting to get really pissed off!

yo same here. i don't like the fuzz screwing people over like that. it sounded about right to me, the cops always seem to do the most off the wall stuff. like no matter how drunk the guy is or how many witnesses you have saying you didn't do anything wrong, they seem to take the drunk guys work

i had a rather bad night last night, i went to my local bar where i shoot at normally 3 or 4 nights a week, was on my usual table just playing 14.1 with an old friend, we've been doing this for beers for more than 5 years now. all night long there was a young punk on the table next to us drinking like a fish, by 9 o'clock he was pretty drunk. about 10 o'clock or so i went to the restroom, leaving my old Meucci HOF2 leaning against my chair, my buddy sitting at the table. when i return i find my buddy and this young kid face to face both with a death grip on my cue, the kid comes over when i'm gone and just picks up the cue and tries to walk over to his table, there are several cues in the rack that have been given to the owner that have wraps and designs on them, just walmart cheapies, i figure the kid just thought mine was one of them, my buddy tried to explain to him that this cue wasn't a house cue. when i stepped in to break it up this guys buddy comes in with a wild punch and i avoid it enough to just get caught in the shoulder, before i could retaliate a couple of the regulars grabbed him and escorted him to the door, the kid who has my cue lets go as i'm watching his buddy and hits me in the side of the head with a rather weak punch, needless to say he broke 2 of my fingers when his head "accidently" hit my hand. he was escorted out too. about a half hour later a deputy sherriff shows up and says he wants to pick up so and so's cue that was left when he was thrown out, i tell him the kid shot with a house cue all night, he brings the kid in and points out my cue, even though i have 20 witnesses that say i have that cue with me every week, he still takes it, i called the sheriif's department this morning and they say i have to show proof of ownershipto pick it up. what if anything can i do, i know it's just an old Meucci but thats not the point it's mine and i would like to get it back. any help would be appreciated.

Is there a local cuemaker or repairman that does your repairs? If so, surely he could write a letter for you stating that the cue does indeed belong to you, or maybe he even sold it to you years ago.

Hell, i think i even remember seeing you with it. :)

good luck & I hope you get your cue back.
