Either way I think it's going to look great, but I like #2 points opposite points best for the symmetry.

The black handle looks nice to ..deco rings at each end of the handle -- the same width and color as the veneers -- might be a nice touch also.

Maybe you're right, the red stripe would not stir. But it's too late, the handle is glued to the forearm. Maybe I'll put up some red diamond inlays, but have not decided yet.
